Introductions!

Tell us about yourself! I'll start:

Hello, I am Bohi! I have two major interests in crafting: fairies and steampunk. I watercolor as well make jewelry. I've watercolored my whole life but I started crafting and got my business license in may. I've appeared around five times at local craft fairs selling my wares. I've been on etsy for only a couple months and am quite enjoying it. I'm currently at a local community college earning my bachelors in business. My other hobbies include dance, guitar and piano.

Re: Introductions!

Greetings members of the Steampunk Factory,

Thank you for the invitation to join your team! I am Santiago Dunbar, Captain of the airship S.S. Beatrix, a trading vessel that houses my mobile store, the Steampunk Surplus. My valiant crew and I traverse the globe and the skylands to find items for the perusal of our wonderful customers. We specialize in military and civilian medals, weapons, and accessories.

May the wind be at your back,
Santiago Dunbar
Captain, S.S. Beatrix

(*I have been crafting steampunk items for sale since April, but have been doing costuming for years for my Halloween costumes--the best holiday of the year! I sell mostly online, but do vend at the monthly steampunk night in my hometown. Etsy is nice; I like the strong steampunk community.*)

Re: Introductions!

Greetings from Special FX. I am Barb Pearson and began crafting steampunk jewelry for the last six years and have been a vendor on Etsy for about 3 of those. I too like both steampunk and fairies and often combine the two in my pieces. I have a passion for clocks, gears, and all manner of whimsy and found objects. I also like to experiment with different media and most recently have played with ice resin and embedding steampunk objects along with graphics in my pieces.

I also dabble in altered clothing and accessories with a steampunk feel. I am a bit of a steampunk scavenger and love to find old things and give them a new life in steampunk.

How great to meet you two!

Barbara: isn't ice resin fun? That's actually where I started and I hope to expand beyond that soon. There's so many steampunk inventions I'd like to try out! Good luck with the resin!

Re: Introductions!

Greetings to all Cyber Steampunk Wenches and Gents!
My humble gratitude for the invitation to join your magnificent team!
My name is Lizzie, aka Curvy Wench to all you Estians. I am an artist of all sorts, but have found my life's passion in designing clothing, of which I fair well here in this venue. I started out with Pirate and Renaissance wear, and eventually stumbled upon Steampunk, in which I feel most compelled to contribute my creativity. I am a lover of the bazaar and unique, but in reality am very conservative. I consider this method of art my alter ego and love creating pieces for those who dare to wear them. It only takes a swatch of fabric to get my gears going, the rest is up to how fast my sewing machine will stitch! How I wish I were an octopus, having eight hands must be better than two!
Cheers!
Lizzie, the Curvy Wench

Re: Introductions!

Hello All. I am a lover of industrial pieces. Though my shop is mostly vintage jewelry and goods, I love gears, metals, rust, and Victorian style pieces. I don't list many because when I find them I tend to keep them. I do however create an occasional piece and I'm working on six right now.

I'm too old to pull off the Steampunk style so if you ever meet me you would find me somewhere between Boho-hippie with a twist. Think the crazy dog lady that use to live down the block with a better personality! Its great to be here and I look forward to getting to know each of you a little more.

Re: Introductions!

Hi all!

Thanks for the invite to this prestigious group! I am honored to be in the midst of such a f fine group of creators and sellers.

It was an estate sale where I purchased boxes and boxes of watch parts that got me started. I've designed jewelry for the last 15 years or so and when I got involved with Etsy last year my taste in jewelry took on a steamy twist.
I've never looked back because I love, love, love it. Glad to be a part of this team!

Re: Introductions!

Hi everyone, and thanks for the invite. I have only just changed the name of this shop which was lying empty to Steampunk Arcade. I have another shop here called ukcollectibles where I have been selling my steampunk and goth stuff, so when those listings expire I will be able to list them here.

Cheers.

Re: Introductions!

Hello, all! I'm Jennifer, aka Steampunk Sweethearts. Big into Steampunk, Victoriana/Edwardiana, and basically anything that looks like it might have wandered out of an Edward Gorey print. I also write, work in a museum, and herd cats (and dogs and a horse and a fish.) Planning to be in person (along with Laurel's Galaxy) to vend at the World Steam Expo next year and hopefully other events. I mostly make, buy and sell things that amuse me or that I'd want to wear myself.

Re: Introductions!

Greetings all!

I have been creating my entire life :-)

My Grandmother and Mother taught me to sew, crochet and embroider starting around age five.

Etsy is the perfect venue for me to share my work and love of anything from the Steampunk, Gothic and Victorian genres.

I hope to connect with other lovers of the past ~ kindest regards.

Re: Introductions!

I guess I havent really introduced myself either :) Im really bad with that! Well Im Veronica, I live in upstate new york and have always dabbled in all things creative. I do everything from fine art to making clothes to tattooing. Right now Im really into making jewelry and started making my skeleton key necklaces. I started my shop because practically every stranger I met was telling me how I needed to sell my necklaces on Etsy, so I figured the Universe was trying to tell me something! I actually wasnt really familiar with the term steampunk until someone told me thats what my jewelry was. Then I discovered it here on Etsy and fell in love with it instantly! Im really happy to be a part of this team and help promote and support each others creative endeavors! Rock on!

Re: Introductions!

Hello all ... I am Nicki, one half of the human component of Brando's Funky Finds (the others are Devon and our two dogs). We live in NY and consider ourselves "pickers". We like anything old. We gear towards antique items with patina, but we noticed many buyers like more retro stuff so we pick that too. We are new on etsy and are looking forward to connecting on more steampunk and industrial groups so we can indulge our interests and pick more of that stuff to sell. We will be posting more industrial/steampunk items this week.

I wish I had more time to read each post more carefully, but I am in grad school and am super busy (I should be doing my work right now!) but it seems like there are some really cool people are here. Happy to be a part of it :)

Re: Introductions!

Hi,

I am Patrick Pasquali Kaup. 41yrs. Married to a very creative and critical thinking woman. 1 step daughter. 3 cats. 1 dog. 1 parrot. 1 squirrel. Substitute teacher. Sword fighter and martial artist. Thinker. Philosopher. Mythologist. 3 collegiate achievments...Certified in Classical studies; B.A. Anthropology; M.A. Linguistics. Love what I have done and what I do. Did Renaissance Faires for 8 yrs solid...all year around. College for 8 years solid. Married for 4 years. Love It!!! I learned leather working during the Ren Faire time of my life. Dabbled for many decades and finally decided to try and make it a business this past summer thanks to my wife's motivations and her unbending devotion to her own self employment. Inspiring! I have built many things in my life and when I saw my first steampunk item, i didn't even know what it was called. I had been watching Wild Wild West, Hellboy, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen, Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow, and read H.G. Wells long before I knew there was a movement in the artist world. Well...leather is central to the Victorian era. It was a no brainer fo me to be able to deconstruct things that I saw in movies and read in books to wrap my imagination around this new motif. That's how I got started...loved the genre and loved to make stuff out of leather. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. Y'all have a great life with your art!!!

Re: Introductions!

Excellent to meet you all! I wish I could respond to you individually.

To Patrick I will say: Tim Burton is amazing enough he created his own category! Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow were definitely steampunk-esque though.

Re: Introductions!

Hello!

I am a graphic designer living in Southern California. I really love making jewelry and going to thrift stores. I have two Etsy shops, 1 is for my jewelry:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/MRFA and the other is for my vintage finds: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MRFAfinds.

I am new to the term steampunk (I have to be honest, for a long time it was just "Waterworld" (film) to me) . I like to incorporate certain supplies (washers, keys, brassy antique things) into my minimal designs. Sort of like bridging steampunk with boho ? I don't really know.

Anyway, Hi, I'm Martha!
