I've been to Dragon*Con a few times and will be returning again this fall for my 3rd year in a row. The whole event is mindblowing and now an annual vacation for me.

I'm hoping to go to Gaslight and Clockwork since I live in CA, but I don't have a car so I'm going to find a Steampunk crazy friend to go with me. I might also have a booth at some faires next year!

It's a small con but very family oriented and nice. We went last year and were planning on this year until I realized my niece is graduating that Saturday so we will be at DragonCon for the first time. Really looking forward to it. And any tips will be greatly appreciated since it's the first major con I will be going to.

I wish there were more in the Midwest, but I guess the movement and fanbase just doesn't have the size here. Best we have is a steampunk event track at some of the anime/comic/scifi conventions. -_-

There's one called Octopodicon in Oklahoma City, OK- Oct. 5th-7th, 2012. I think this is the first year for it and it's going to be a fullly Steampunk con. Oklahoma is as Midwest as you can get!

Brenda - There's a DragonCon group on facebook, I got a lot of great info through them and some of the discussions on there when it was my first time. Lots of great tips on spots to eat near the con, where to find track info, directions, transportation schedules, etc.

Also, there's an official DragonCon phone app that they debuted last years that REALLY came in handy for keeping up with schedules/changes/what was happening where/etc. You're gonna love the con!

I have some great news: Matt (of http://www.etsy.com/shop/ArcaneArmoury?ref=search_shop_redirect ) and I have just received confirmation of our stall at the Weekend at the Asylum Steampunk Convention in Lincoln, UK, which runs from 6th-9th September. We will be trading right outside the castle on the 8th and 9th! http://steampunk.synthasite.com/ This claims to be the biggest Steampunk convention in Europe.

It will be the first time we've attended and would appreciate any comments or advice, thankyou!
