A few years ago I developed a neuroma on a toe joint from resting the ball of my foot on the support bar of the chair I sit in, and now I've got bursitis on my elbow from resting it on the table. Do any of you have similar problems?
Heidi
YES! Carpal Tunnel from typing and drawing plus swollen feet.
Oh, and a widening butt from too much sitting and not enough walking!
I suffer with the widening butt issue too, lol!
Lol! I suffer with that widening butt issue too. :-D

Add that to the list!! Let's call it WBS; Wide Butt Syndrome
Oh goodness, just for fun I googled wether it was a real "thing"
um ladies, I'm worried now, the next step is Dead Butt Syndrome. Eeeeek! https://www.health.com/fitness/dead-butt-syndrome-gluteal-amnesia
“Dead butt syndrome,” or gluteal amnesia, is a condition that occurs when your gluteus medius gets inflamed and forgets to function normally. ... Spending so much time on your backside decreases your body's ability to use your incredibly powerful gluteus muscles when they're needed.
I don't know if I'll have that problem because don't just sit still. I make many trips to the kitchen for snacks.
OH NO! I'm afraid to read that! Okay that does it, I'll have to set a timer.
Absolutely! WBS! (Sorry about the double post)
My eyes are very sore, too much staring at the computer screen. Keep forgetting to blink to moisture eyes -.-
@Artbesico the eye thing happens to me, too.
I spend quite a bit of time at the computer at work. I have to be very mindful of taking breaks and stretching to avoid headaches from sitting there too long. Got a great ergonomic chair and use good posture but my posture tends to slip if I overdo things. Have to watch my wrist too, got carpal tunnel on my right wrist a few years back and got treatment, now its OK but will flare if I type for too long without a break.
I wish my body would tell me to get up, but it doesn't until the damage is done. I'll HAVE to switch things up now.
@psych62 which ergonomic chair have you got? I've bought a desk chair a few years back, just a regular one with a mesh back, the seat is quite firm so well cushioned. This is after sitting on one crappy old chair that a landlord provided, he said it was from his father's office, thrown away one. It was so crappy, the seat cushion has literally give in so you could feel the metal underneath. After a good few years I finally treated myself a proper desk chair one Christmas, it's quite heavy but it's pretty good chair, good enough and way better than the crappy one.
How about an ergonomic mouse? I've been looking around, briefly had one at work, not sure if it would make a difference.
I don't know the name of the chair. My work provided it for me upon request after my worker's comp case regarding my wrist. I received a chair, an adjustable monitor arm, and a roller mouse. The roller mouse I love. Once you adjust it, it's a breeze. It's from HumanScale.
@psych62 good that your workplace has good health care and proper follow up.
My neck gets sore because I lean forward and rest my chin on my hand when reading e-mails. I have to remind myself to sit up straight and bring the keyboard to the edge of the desk so I'm not extending my arms and putting strain on my shoulders and neck and back.
If your chin is resting on your hand, then your elbow must be resting on the table... put a cushion there or something!
Hi,
I'm terrible at sitting up straight, it just doesn't feel comfortable.
I can picture myself being one of those little old ladies that walks along staring at the floor because i can't straighten up properly anymore. x
I think about that, too, so every time I notice myself slouching I make myself sit up straight. I'm getting better at noticing and I think my back is getting stronger. I don't want to be that lady!
My left eye and my neck on that side hurt, not from sitting at the computer but from playing games on my phone lying in bed at night, bad bad bad habit = (
You might have to start setting a timer, too! ;)
@heidibo2 That wouldn't work, I don't like timer, I don't even use a kitchen timer for cooking =D
The only thing that works is I always try to do the right thing =] I will try harder
I've got a stiff neck on my left side, for days now if not over a week. It hurts when I turn my head especially when I'm driving.
This is not entirely from how I sit at my desk, I've been working very hard on the computer lately and this doesn't help I know but the stiff neck is mostly from my playing games on my phone when I'm lying in bed at bedtime so serve me right. I've stopped playing that much in the past couple of nights so the pain is starting to ease away but slowly.
@Artbesico . can you prop yourself up in bed better? like an extra pillow or something while playing the games? that might help.
