It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular. It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.
You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.
Thoughts?
ouch! i'm sorry.
Oh, that's true. Thank you for the reminder. One of my daughters "hit it on the head." Let's go to everybody's store, link to their Pinterest and Twitter address and follow the fellow from the forums in those website. Next time we have a forum shutdown, we know where to find out each other. And another daughter just scream, "Favorite the girl's stores, when there is no forum available you can send a direct message in Etsy."
Sorry, I am too old to keep at your pace.
Holy Tamales it is so cold here is Kansas! Day 6 of temps in single digits for highs. These temps to continue for another week +. On Saturday/Sunday morning lows will be -5 to -10 degrees. Valentine's Day high will be 2 degrees.
I just heard that Dorothy and Toto are moving to Florida.

Note to Dorothy, there may not be tornadoes in FL, but hurricanes...
@SewNSewSister have you ever tried throwing a cup of hot water in the air when it's below zero and it turns into snowy mist?
@Former_Member. No I never tried that. I see it on TV though. But I think I will try. I'll let you know how it goes.
Friday, February 12th, 2021.
The tamales are still holy. Weather in KS 4°F, IL 17°F and Kansasville, WI 4°F.
Is there any relation between low temperatures and Kansas?
@Former_Member. Don't exactly know about a diff in low temps here in Kansas. But being in the middle of the U.S. we do sit a bit lower than other states.
Right now what is hitting us is the Arctic Air Mass that travels downward to us after hitting Minnesota, etc. first and then us. Then it branches out more downward and towards the eastern states.
Next 4 days will be the worse. Lows in the -10 to -20 degrees wind chill and then reach highs of 1 or 2. Kansas hasn't seen this kind of cold for almost 100 years. And we will be breaking those records. Minimal snow and that is the good part.
Flannels and long johns are getting a work out for sure! The he** with fashion.
It seems the forms are being monitored this morning. I've seen a few comments removed from threads and one post from earlier this morning is completely gone. I don't even see it the notifications for it now.
Removing posts & comments.
If they remove the snarky , bickering ones that's O.K. with me.
Maybe that's part of the recent 'overhaul' of the forums. It just wouldn't surprise me if more monitoring of what is said/discussed is the new norm. I think it probably has a lot to do with all the major social media more closely monitoring including FB, Twitter, etc.. A whole lotta monitoring/censoring this past half year politically.
Then again I could be way off base with this analogy. May E is just plain being nosy.
Agreed, I wish Etsy would remove all of the snarky and bickering comments, especially when the arguing takes over a thread.
The thread that was removed was posted by a shop selling wax melts that received a 1 star review from another wax melt shop owner that appears to have purchased with the intent to leave a snarky review.
I had wanted to see if Etsy would remove the review, but I hadn't marked the shop as a favorite and I can't remember the shop name.
@MilaSmilasDogClothes Frozen breath? That sounds like it would hurt your nose. Holy kamoley.
How do people endure your weather?
I admire your hardiness.
@Lionfishvintage It's not that bad if you're dressed warmly. The masks actually are great this time of year! I still go to the outdoor flea market in Manhattan if it's above 25 degrees, every weekend. I figure if the vendors are there from 8am to 4pm, I want to support! You would be surprised how many people come out to cruise the vintage wares on a frigid day. Oh, and those little hand warmers are awesome to stick into gloves.
Yes, the masks have certainly served a double purpose during these cold days!
I probably endure it because it's all I've ever known. I think it would actually be strange for me to be in a place where the temperature didn't range from 1 degree to 100. :- )
Hey- anyone heard from Big Dog Lady Jools?
I miss her!
Hi Lion - I did look up Big Dog Lady Jools. Her shop is in vac mode, but her message sounds like reopening is not on the books. She is in North Carolina.
Take Care out there - we have ice & some snow here in Austin this AM - do you believe it?
Her shop is on vaca (but the announcement suggests it's not a vacation) https://www.etsy.com/shop/BigDogLadysJools
and she hasn't made a forum post since September, 2020...
She has always been a funny, sane person in the forum @Lionfishvintage

Hey Lion, I have not. I miss her and wonder if her health is improving. I think she is a captain on the ecommerce team.

Take care ~ Keep well
Oh no! Was she not well?
I can't remember the name of her shop. Do you know?
Cold here? Nah ... I mean yes for us .. which is 43 sometimes.
We cry like babies when it's 43 !!
But i know that's a day at the beach for people in snow country!
Oh hey- i just saw you're in Austin. Have you been to El Arroyo?
I was thinking about moving to Austin at 1 point cause it seems very hippie like in some parts.

You all have a groovy day.
Yes, we used to go to El Arroyo a lot... great Tex-mex food.
