It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular. It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.
You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.
Thoughts?
Is it true? I don't know. I'm in "wait and see" mode. I saw it online but only on gossip sites so far.
@pigeonplumtree . hi, pigeon. /me waves.
update on my package from canada. it arrived. took 9 days with easter being part of it. it cost the seller precisely 11.75 canadian to mail it, in a reused amazon prime box. so my paying her 17.60 usd for shipping, of which she refunded 5.41 usd on overcharge once she shipped, should have covered her postal expenses. in any case it went well and i think my seller was happy. i will leave feedback once they let me. on non tracked items, i found out, they make you wait until the last expected delivery day to leave feedback. so i convoed her for now. i am posting because i can't find my thread on it and i know a few people here were wondering how it turned out.
Glad to hear it arrived. Sounds like you and the seller are both happy. :)
I'm mixed up. I thought you were in Canada and the package was coming from the US.
@pigeonplumtree . i'm in california. she's in toronto. :) @OpenVintagePreserve . yes, she said she was happy. she had the item since 1964, bought at sax during the world's fair. :) i thought that was so neat. :)
That is neat. Was it a souvenir of the fair?
@pigeonplumtree . she was a little girl and she picked out the doll because it was irish and her family ancestry was irish. so it was a souvenier in a way, at least of the trip to the fair.
she looks brand new expect for having lost her shoes. she is immaculate and her lace bonnet thing is just perfect.
why am i not surprised you'd like nellie? ;) the real laura was interesting in real life too.
Oh, she sounds lovely. I once nearly bought a doll from the Seattle World's Fair, but I decided not to bite, because there was something wrong with the eyes. They appeared to be permanently closed.
Maybe I would have liked the real Laura Ingalls, but on the show, she was too sassy, especially as she became older. Do you remember the episode where the Ingalls and the Edwards strike gold? Laura meets an old prospector and ends up ruining his life by telling his secret of his gold stash and makes him commit suicide by setting himself on fire in his little shack?
I saw a Downy Woodpecker today. He was spiraling around and around the trunk of a tree
Hi !
Why the frowny face these days ?
You've had much prettier avatars .......
Who's going to do the cooking?
@pigeonplumtree . nice. i've only seen the kind that are native to san francisco when i was growing up there. @MelsMix . pigeon's avatar is a character from little house on the prairie, the bratty girl in the story. interesting thing is in real life the girl and her husband founded a town in the next county down south of me. ;)
She was my favourite character on Little House. I was not a fan of Laura!
So..... I purchased a new stove just yesterday / and it will be delivered tomorrow !!! YAY !!!
I cook ALOT ! ..... and the "oven " part of my stove broke about 6 weeks ago ..... totally have missed my roasted veggies , but have been managing with the stove top option!
So very odd ! .... Mr Mary does not cook at all / but found a stove he liked " the look of " online ! I pulled into a local appliance place just to look around on my way home from work / and the exact stove was on sale / and I liked it too / so I bought it :D:D:D
Roasted brussel sprouts will be the maiden voyage !
I love my new stove. Did you get conventional or induction? Induction is too intense for me. I can't handle it. The old fashioned way is good enough for me. If you choose induction, your dinner will be ready in 10 minutes.
@MelsMixCan you come over and fix something for me? I love roasted brussel sprouts but hate cooking (I only stir fry and cook up pots of rice).
We have pileated woodpeckers in our back yard - gorgeous birds! We're used to hearing the rattling in our little backyard woods, but once I heard the most gawdawful rattling banging at the end of our road - it went on and on and was really loud, so I finally went out and there was a little youngin' woodpecker, pecking madly away at our stop sign. I'm like DUUUUUDE! That will get you no glory!
We have pileated woodpeckers too. Aren't they enormous in size?
@ chapeaunoir ! Roasted brussel sprouts and other stuff is super easy ..... less time than it takes to cook rice !!! :D
They're huge - they look big even seen from my window. And brilliant - I love seeing them out and about.
We have giant blue jays, too - they strafe our cats who get incensed at them. When they were younger one got so mad that she charged up a tree after the jay and tried to get at it - the jay was like "Ha ha ha - look at you, silly cat" and flew off. I felt a bit sorry for my cat but it was pretty funny.
@MelsMix - I've actually started roasting veg in the roaster area in our old oven, and I'll have to say it is pretty darned easy and it's always tasty. But I am no master at it - I don't 'cook', I 'fix things.' lol.
@ Chap ...... roasted veggies are always good !!! .... even if they burn a little ..... Easier than rice / you're good to go !!!
I like them a little burnt - my DH says "cooking up those cajun blackened asparagus again?" lol - but no cajun spice, just farm butter with a bit of salt in it. Mmmmm - just had some tonight.
