It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular. It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.
You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.
Thoughts?
Everybody getting their shops in line for the Christmas Season to begin in earnest? The news has really been pushing for early shopping this year. With the cargo ships stuck out at sea, inflation continuing to go up, the post office rise in costs and anticipated shipping taking longer than usual, etc. November is probably going to be busy, busy, busy (hopefully).
I've already warned my sewing machine...it's a 'no holds' barred kinda Season this year! Sure hope she cooperates.
Ha ha -your sewing machine.
I'm putting shop on vacay nov 15th.
Announcement says to get holiday orders in by then.
Anybody doing anything special his Halloween? There is a couple that has an awesome front lawn display about a mile from where we live. We will be checking it out.
My husband and I used to really get into Halloween. He always passed out the candy cause he loved seeing all the kids decked out. Since he's been gone I haven't been into it that much.
And my apartment has a security door so you can't get into foyer of the apts without a key for it. So no trick or treaters.
I remember my kids and their costumes. I sewed most of them. They had some wild imaginations for sure and I would accommodate them!
I'm ready for Christmas. My favorite time of year. It goes by too quickly. Hectic as hel* but I still love it.
We have a five-foot skeleton in the front window. He has two leashes, one attached to a cat skeleton and the other to a vulture skeleton. Only three trick-or-treaters so far today but that already beats last year. (Pre-covid we sometimes had close to a hundred.)
Nothing going on here.
I usually watch "Hocus Pocus " with Bette Midler every Halloween. And of course " Halloween " with Jamie Lee Curtis.
We don't get kids trick or treating.
Those costume you make sound great! Would love to see pics of them .And pics of the place you're going to tonight Psych.
ha ha . I made it look like me and Bette Midler are going to watch Hocus Pocus together!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all of you!!
GielDesigns, your display sounds great! I can picture it in my mind, but I'd love to see a pic!
Sewsister, it is so cool that you sew costumes. I fear it is becoming a lost art. When I was a kid, I remember just about all Moms (and Grandmoms) making costumes. There is a photo of my brother and I dressed up, I was 3, my brother 5. I'm dressed as a ballerina and my brother is wearing a tiger suit. So cute.
What is your favorite Halloween movie? Mine is Nightmare on Elm Street (the original). The first time I saw it I was scared out of my mind. That scene where he is in the school hallway, scraping his claws over the lockers, always gets me.
Hard to pick a fav. Stranger Things series. (There are some Halloween scenes in it so i guess it counts ?)
Hocus Pocus .
This may not be a halloween movie but... Bram Stokers Dracula
Thriller video. Was just playing it in the car!
Watching Nosferatu now. It's a classic. I usually don't like silent films but this one never gets old.
I know this is digressing from my original question, but has anyone started Christmas shopping yet? I just purchased for hubs a beautiful navy blue cashmere sweater with a zip collar. Whenever I've waited to closer to Xmas (hoping for a price drop) my favorite sweaters are sold out in his size. So I figured that I better get on the ball now. He just adores cashmere, and navy will play up his blue eyes nicely.
I only get 1 person a gift and usually its something from my shop!
thank you all for the condolences. glad you all liked my diorama. that was my 16th edited photo and not all i took. i kept getting too much flash or it all went blurry. it's a fantastic fabric panel but enormous. we want to see pics! psych, gerri, mary... post your various pics you have or can take now. here won't do anything because we are on the highway. grandma used to do a pumpkin. i did a pumkpin in the 80's, carved with a cat face. one of my cats climbed into that one and curled up inside it, lol. a black cat...
@vlmkpyae the pumpkin cat!!
haha
Somehow I missed the news about your friend and just read it. So sorry to hear this. ((hugs))
Speaking of cats, the boo-boo on Katie keeps on getting better and better. It's smaller and darker and hair seems to be slowly growing around it.
When she lets me, I dab it with anti-bacterial ointment. It seems to speed up the healing.
I think I finally figured this picture thing out. This link should show you my front window.

Okay, maybe I haven't figured it out. You may not be able to see it without being signed into google. (sigh...)
I've never learned the whole online photo storage and sharing thing either.
it wants me to sign in, gerri. it must be private.
if you start a convo and upload a photo from your computer that gets it an etsy url. you can use that to post with.
Thanks! I'll give that a try. :- )
Okay, trying the Halloween pic again:
