It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

Thoughts?

Hi Lion@lionfishvintage

this sounds like a good plan. I have been buying a few cans of extra soup also. I need to start in with the frozen items, a few extra cleaning supplies and some paper products. I was at the grocery store the other day and blinked twice when I saw the signs  showing limits on how many you could buy (limits) of certain items. Looks like another serge. Please stay safe and stay well.

I certainly hope you have some sort of heat @vlmkpyae . We spent a couple of winters without any heat or hot water when I was a child and it's not a good memory at all.

Btw, I sent a card and a few sets of cute stickers to Mia. I put them in the mail yesterday.

lion, mary, margaret, gerri... heater arrived yesterday. i couldn't put the wheels into its feets and shadow was in a lonnnnng bath. he got the wheels in easily. men. i put the heater on in eco mode and in about an hour or so it had gotten up to 76. no, we had no heat. the old heater that looks like a fireplace thing still looks pretty but was not really doing anything more than being a nice visual. we got very lucky and got a 99.99 heater on black friday sale. it's a radiator thingy, silent except for a tiny clunk when it cycles. we put it in the kitchen on the tile floor. this puts it in the middle of the apartment and warms a wall the kitchen and bathroom share. this was an old motel, open plan kitchenette so heating has to cover all but the bathroom. at 3 am it's not as cold outside as it will be at 6 to 7, but so far this has taken the edge off how utterly freezing it has been in here.

gerri, thank you, that was nice.

So glad you have some heat again! Can they fix the old 'fireplace thing'? Or just decorative now?

We lost heat in Brooklyn last winter for a few days. So cold and so ironic because there's a (potentially working) fireplace on every floor of this 1800s brownstone.

elizabeth, old fireplace thing is the heater we bought a few years ago with a panel that looks like logs and flames. it made more sense to replace it with a radiator oil type. no portable heater is designed to heat a 550 to 600 sq ft apt but we are only wired to run one heater. baseboards cost more than half our rent to run and we don't trust them. this is quiet and in the kitchen so it covers both halves of the unit.

mary, this is the first heat we've had since last winter. it is not normally in the 30's this early but in february. this is a freak year in every way.

I'm in an 1800s brownstone too, lol! We also have fireplaces on every floor but we've never turned them on. Scared we might blow the place up.

This pandemic hasn't helped us any
All classes of mail should be the same but since everyone is mostly shopping online it changes everything We are also helping UPS and Amazon with their packages If you were to step into my facility you would see what i am talking about and not making excuses Truthfully it's going to be a challenge to deliver everything by Xmas some packages may slip through and make it on time and the facilities are working the mail at random not by the oldest date first

@vlmkpyae

That was really good and helpful. Funny to read about the house number because I'm working on a new one right now. Ours is decorative but it's too thin to see at night. The painters replaced my old one and put it up as a "surprise" when they redid the front of my house. We appreciated the gesture but it's not very practical.

Also, I saw a news story today about a family that leaves a crate of drinks and snacks on their porch for their delivery people. The workers seemed so touched that someone was actually thinking of them. It was a nice watch. :- )

This is quite true =]

I love my postmaster and his co-worker at my little P O.

They know me and worry about me and others if they haven't seen us in awhile.

They call me when they have extra boxes they think i can use and save them for me.

They are soooo awesome. We just got them some candy as a thank you for all they've done.

I'm with you @Lionfishvintage . I feel so bad when people post in the forum about more crotchety workers by them. Our crew is gold, and we treat them as such!

i need help i can't get. it's not about etsy. it's about bricklink. we had a shop on it well over a decade ago. never sold much and closed it. i just got a bill saying we owe them tax! ok, it's not a phishing spoof it's real. i can't login. they don't even have our current info. it was 2 banks ago!

emailing customerservice@bricklink.com bounced. i tried deleting the account. it won't let me! bricklink.com is holding us hostage when we have not used them since about 2003! i'm not on antisocial media so i can't reach them that way. they have no phone number. i just want to be rid of them. we don't owe them anything for a closed shop from years ago! i can't reach a live person. and these evilpeople sent this on a friday, of course. literally their contact email addresses bounce, i get mailer daemon. i don't know what to do. they want me to sign new tos but i want to delete the account instead. can anybody please investigate what i can do? i sent an email to admin but i think that's just for website not for accounts. they literally have us hostage and my trauma level is off the charts. i can't deal with this. does anybody know a way around this?
