Nothing in Particular Thread

It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

Finally had a haircut today, feel SO good =D  Been 6 months since I had it cut.

@Lionfishvintage I keep my hair quite short so probably still not that long after 6 months but for me it was too long =D  It was messy and has been driving me crazy. It's all good now and I'm happy ^^

Congrats on that @Artbesico ! Will never take that for granted again either (the list is long)! Got my first one in months about 4 weeks ago and really felt human again :)) Such a shaggy mess.

@ElizabethRosenArt I know what you mean, yes we've learnt a few things during this lockdown haven't we, it's a quiet time for self-reflection that we tend to forget to do when we are too busy with the daily routine.

art. i just got 3 hours sleep. that is the most at a time i've gotten sinc e these bites first erupted. at least by now my face no longer feels like the bones are broken. there are not words for what this has been to endure for weeks.the only thing that helps is apple juice on the bites. nothing else neutralizes the venom. it has been terrifying.

@vlmkpyae That sounds terrible and very painful =, {  It should be looked at by a doctor but I understand why you don't want to risk going to the doctor at this time. Can the consultation be done on the phone? Maybe they can advise on medication that you can get in store or by post?

art, no, i'm on my own, as i have been since the 80's. my dna cannot be alter5ed to cause spiders not to want me. i am allergic to meds. no doctor wants to touch me. i'll survive

math question. not a ding against the seller at all, she doesn't control the a.i., but today i did not make a purchase because of math. ok. she had shipping set at 20, with a box. i said i don't need the box, ship in a tiny box, first class? she said sure. but first class came up as 15! i explained i have gotten the same weight from... texas, tennessee, michigan, kansas, north carolina, and even maine for 5 to 10 depending on zone. maine was obviously the worst. michigan was 5.60 in a heavy 8x8 inch box that seller had reused from dishes so very sturdy. she said she had no clue why but wisconsin is charging more to, 'cali', than to a lot of other states? i said i had no clue either but it went over  budget and those dumb congress critters are not giving us that stimulus after all so i can't buy now. i had budgeted for 8 dollars shipping not 15. she was friendly and said no problem but...

why would any one state discriminate when that list i mentioned didn't? thoughts?

From Texas to California, the shipping is always  outrageous ~ never fails to amaze me. My post Lady showed me a list... there are several states where the shipping is high dollar.

no, we are not, but i have heard many sirens daily for days now. we had a few almost warm days but now it's already cold again.

@vlmkpyaeIf you're confused and you live in the US, imagine how those outside of it feel. I had to stop shipping to the US as I didn't want to disappoint buyers. Or have the problems that refunds, months down the line can cause. Especially with your feedback thrown in, it's not worth losing your shop over. But I so hated having to do that. I'm hoping things work out for all of you there, come the next elections. But really feel for you all. It could take a decade to sort things out. Or are things not as bad as we are hearing and seeing in the UK? I hope not. Stay safe please.

steph, things are much worse than what you are hearing, but there is great hope. people are fired up and fed up. most voting has to be by mail so foreign hackers can't mess with machines. this time...

What is the weight of the package? First Class using Etsy shipping goes up to 15.99 oz and I think retail or other services is 13 oz. I've shipped 15 oz to CA before and it was 5 something. Shipping priority out there can be crazy depending on size and weight. I usually end up using a regional or flat rate if possible because it can mean the difference between 18.60 for a large flat rate or 33.00 for a regular box. Generally I'm shipping heavy items though if it's going priority with the wood slices. My ornaments and other light items rarely need priority.

And about your spider bites, you mentioned apple juice working, which reminded me of apple cider vinegar if you get the raw kind with the mother, it works very well on bug bites, hives, sunburns things of that nature. Takes out the itch and burn. We have black flies or buffalo flies here badly the last couple of years and sometimes the bites swell terribly and it works well for it. It's also antibacterial. I looked it up for spider bites in particular and found this article that lists it and other home remedies. Hope it helps!

Off topic Abbeyoaks but I just went to your shop and fell in love! Left you some favs and started following.

I lived in Michigan (Utica) for 20 years and never got used to the beautiful greenery of the state. I always looked forward to the winters even though they could get truly bad. Frankenmuth every Christmas season. My daughter visits there every summer for vaca to see her/my friends. I shake my head these last years with all of the economic probs happening there. Kansas just cannot compare to the beauty I left behind. Blessings.

@SewNSewSisterwow, small world.  My mom moved around alot within Michigan as a kid but considers Utica her hometown.  I still have a couple of aunts that live in Clinton Twnshp and loved going to Lakeside mall with them in the 80s.  The pet store and candy shop were the two stores I loved best.

Thanks! I looked at yours too and your bags are adorable. I like cloth totes style bags a lot. I grew up in Lake Orion, but have lived in various cities in that general area. Now we moved to Northern Michigan a few years ago. The winters are very pretty, but I could do without some of the cold lol

We used to go across the border to Canada. My daughter and I were competitive skaters and we had a lot of competitions there. Some of the happiest times of our lives. One time some of the adults and myself went to a Strip Club there...let's just say there was a lot of alcohol involved! I competed the next day and don't know how I got thru it,,,and I won!
