It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular. It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.
You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.
Thoughts?
L.A. Mayor Garcetti wants everyone to wear masks when they leave their homes. I think that's overkill. I'll wear my mask on the bus and when I deal with businesses and at work, but not when I'm waiting for the bus alone with no one in sight, nor walking on a deserted street. The Mayor says that you never know when you're going to run into anyone, but I practice social distancing and when I'm passing by people from a 6 foot distance or more I think a mask is unnecessary. Sure, someone could bump into me, but I could also be run over by a truck tommorrow. Let's be reasonable. Unless the cops start handing out tickets I'm not going to wear a mask from the second I leave the house til I come home.
The Metro bus/rail system has recently implemented mandatory masks for riders, but its not being enforced. People without masks are not being stopped from boarding, nor are they being offered masks. The same mask-less riders I'm used to seeing are still riding without masks. No one is saying anything.
I have been kidding to the cashiers, "Now, we look like the bank or train robbers from the old western movies."
i read that l.a. is on lockdown to july. i'm sorry.
I think all this cooped up thing kind of does get to a person, doesn't it? I've certainly been feeling it this week. We have also had very little sun. That could also be playing a roll in this blahness.
We need a little cheer and I'm going to find it and post it. I'll be back.
Here, I did find something kind of cute, but I can only post the link.
We need some humour. Enjoy!
oh! It posted it after all. Well, good for me!
@pigeonplumtree cheer up buttercup, I hope you have better weather this weekend. Sunny days certainly help, yesterday we had sunshine and clear blue sky, it was so beautiful.
art, i'm hanging in there. i've been cranky. shadow's new computer got sent from canada. it was supposed to be a california seller! not at all happy. will take forever.
I hear you sil. I'm getting itchy. And my face is breaking out from wearing a mask so much (yes, I wear a clean mask every day). I'm so sick of this mask thing. And I miss going to the movies, going out to dinner.
Tired of my neighbors being here all day. We live in a semi rural area on a property with 2 apts and 2 cottages. Since i work from home, I'm used to everyone leaving for work by 9ish and having the whole place to myself.
I've been irritable. Obviously more of an introvert and having to constantly hear everyone , especially the people above me is annoying. I want everyone to go away!!
@Lionfishvintage - I understand. I am college educated, and have the fortune of being employed all my adult life. But I have worked jobs both above and below my means, while still having a career to be proud of. Right on.
I am totally with you on this one. One the neighbours has this loud, ugly sounding motorcycle that he has to rev up for 20 minutes before he takes it out, SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. I can't stand listening to it, that and all his loud, barking dogs and the dumb music. This guy tinkers in his garage all day and sometimes night! I feel like I am going batty some days.
My son works at home, my daughter-in-law works at home, my husband works at home and I do too. MMMmmm... what to say when we are at home 24/7 and work at home regardless of virus or quarantine? For us, there is no much difference...
i hope it ends soon, for all of our sakes! lion, ouch on the masks. i can only wear a mask for about an hour or i will faint.
My husband says every day, "C'mom vaccine, where are you?" That would be the end of this craziness!
ana, that is funny. yes, it would help but that takes time. treatmeant improvement would be more helpful now and there are many teams working on those. it can't go on forever. they will find help for this just like they have for all the previous unknown things.
@vlmkpyaeI hate the masks! I just
bought a bamboo neck gaiter/ multi
purpose item that can also be a mask/
headband etc and I like it much better.
Hope you are doing well.
i made a typo but i'm not editing. treatment. the fora and here go bonkers if you edit.
I've really had enough of this too. Aside from feeling caged, the skin around my nose and mouth are scaly because the masks are drying it out. But extra moisturizer clogs my pores and causes breakouts. A lose-lose situation. However, unlike many of my neighbors, I'm still wearing mine. I guess I care a bit more about spreading this thing around than they do. We're far too congested in Manhattan to be so callous.
My brother and I were discussing medications too, something to combat the symptoms and keep people from dying would be most helpful. As you said, it takes time to come up with a proper vaccine.
gerri. ouch! i hope you can find a solution. lion. that sounds much better. we're ok. we have food.
would you guys believe that every single food item we ever bought since the inception of amazon pantry is unavailable? you'd think it was toilet paper!
target has no canned veggies. what?
what is going on?
@Former_Member. No canned veggies? Wow. I went to Walmart today and they were almost completely out of frozen veggies and a few other things that are common food stock. I asked the clerk if there was a shortage going on. She said no 'we don't have enough people to re-stock'. Maybe that is what is going on with Target and other places.
What I don't understand is with so many people out of work why is there a shortage of people in big chains like these? When my father was alive he drilled in all 5 of his daughter's heads that, 'You do whatever kind of job you have to do to eat...even if it means scrubbing toilets'. And when my dad retired from trucking that is exactly what he did...maintenance at the local race track. We girls learned a great deal from him but this was the most valuable lesson he taught us.
mary, wow. but i'm talking online, not in actual markets. good for your father.
Sorry Sill I misunderstood. Thought you were talking about shopping inside a Target store. Still...how crazy to not have canned veggies anywhere!
mary, the closest tarpit is in oregon, 27 miles away plus.
we only have slaveway and wal-barf left here anymore. our other markets were killed by the new wal-barf supercenter years ago and now that isn't even open at night now! total waste.
