It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

Thoughts?

Changing of subject.  "I can not believe is not butter."  In the beautiful state IL, everybody who does not get the new "real ID" before 10/2020

must show a US passport when traveling by airplane.  emoji airplane

@SwissZahlerArt  Had a notification with my truck renewal license...Ohio has the same ruling! My driver's license don't renew until 12/20, not planning on any travel by plane in the near future!

Truly, travelling is for the birds.  I like to go and see places and things... but I despise all of the rigmarole at the airports and such.  I know that they have to do it, especially in this day and age, but I still hate it.

Actually, it's a federal thing, so all states are going to get it. I've had a passport for years and don't travel without it, so not too concerned. My driver's license will need renewal next summer anyway, but I would NOT be giving the state extra money to issue me a new one sooner. I don't fly often enough to stress about it. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/real-id-us-travel-requirements/index.html

You know that you're getting old when...

... ordering french fries with your meal bothers your stomach afterwards.

Remind me please to not order those again!  Bleh.

...or you get heartburn.  Years ago, I remember asking a friend what heartburn felt like because I'd never had it.  Now I know.

Florida was one of the first States to really push the Real ID. If you already have a passport I believe this simplifies a lot of the process in most States but do check with your DMV.

What Florida Required - Two forms of identification, Certified Copy of Birth Certificate. Certified Copy of Marriage License (assuming like the majority my age you changed from maiden to married name). Two pieces of mail addressed to you at the address you give. (They scanned what you gave them & place in your State File, so I'd suggest not handing them anything you don't want available to prying eyes or hackers) If you'd been married & divorced or widowed & remarried, Certified Copies of all divorce papers, all marriage licenses or death certificates & marriage licenses needed to be provided. (Can you imagine Liz Taylor's stack of paperwork?)

Anyway, don't wait until the last minute to get any paperwork together, especially if you have been a nomad for parts of your life & check with your State DMV as to what they need, since every State could be different. Most have the process/requirements posted on line.

@JMOldeVintage  Thank you for suggesting checking before a person renews their license. I probably would have just went in to the DMV, never thinking I may need documents.

i looked and california is under this same horrid ww2 type show us your papers nightmare too. :( i'm happy i have no plans to fly again because getting the documentation would be almost impossible. my husband was adopted at a young age and there is no birth record. we were married in new orleans and katrina wiped out that record too. this was before things were digitized. we only have id cards since we don't drive. mine has had a typo in spelling for years that they won't fix. dmv has my husband under one first name and soc sec has him under his old nickname from years ago. we literally could not get them all their various nonsense they want. so we'll have to make due with expired state id cards just like many others will do.

i notice they want proof of address. what about the many many homeless people?

this whole thing stinks. :(

@SwissZahlerArt A good French fries with a bit of salt is good enough, better with some ketchup or even tartar sauce, yum.

I had chunky oven chips last night =]

Oh yes... I wouldn't like to be behind Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor on the line to board an airplane.

My sons and daughters say it is part of the changes in the modern life. They are thinking too much science fiction.

"In the future, we may scan a ring we wear all of the time. That ring would be the personal ID for everything, computer, telephone, camera,

electronic wallet, radio, etc."

Have you seen the US drama series "Person of Interest"? We are all being watched and monitored. Artificial intelligence and smart recognition technology can be frightening.
