It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular. It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.
You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.
Thoughts?
That's fantastic news, I'm glad that everything turned out well. :-)
Do you think it's tacky for someone to order the most expensive thing on the menu, because they know that someone else is paying?
Okay, I think it's bad to do it once.... but this person is a repeat offender. This person does it EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Is it appropriate to say something... or am I just stepping over my boundaries? (I think the person who is paying is afraid that if they do not oblige, they will be abandoned by other person)
Thoughts, please.
Yes, I do think it is tacky. IF I were the one paying I would start going to a less expensive place. If the moocher (because that's what they are) said anything about the place selected I would smile sweetly and say "You can select the place when you pay--when I pay I get to select the place".
OH--and then I would select Subway and order a $5.00 footlong--cut in half! LOL
It is abuse, unconsiderated, at certain point disrespectful and against the rules of social behave.
If it is possible, exclude the repeat offender from the guess list.
If there is no choice, do the "hippy payment", everybody pays for their own order.
Can you not invite them ? Do they take a turn to buy if so what do they order--expensive item ?
Yes, and very bad manners to boot.
How does it play out when it's their treat? @pigeonplumtree
Possible solution. Do a potluck* with RSVP invitations and specification which meal everybody shall bring to avoid repeated food.
* in USA, it is gathering in which every guest brings a meal to share with the participants.
I think some people do things that they can get away with it and they will keep doing it.
Another scenario is that a group of peope, usually a workplace out for a meal event, the bill is divided by the number of people at the table. People tend to then order expensive drinks or alcohol and some even go for a second of drinks. If you don't drink alcohol or expensive drinks then you still have to pay for the share of their drinks. Some people do go out their way to make the most of it to gain for themselves, that's very bad character.
i think they should not be invited next time. i'm sure if they were paying it would come with a waitress asking if you wanted fries...
♫♫Only yesterday when I was sad and I was lonely
You showed me the way to leave the past and all its tears behind me
Tomorrow maybe even brighter than today
Since I threw my sadness away
Only yesterday
♫♫How are things in Glocca Morra?
Is that little brook still leaping there?
Does it still run down to Donny cove?
Through Killybegs, Kilkerry and Kildare?
How are things in Glocca Mora?
Is that willow tree still weeping there?
Does that lassie with the twinklin' eye
Come smilin' by and does she walk away,
Sad and dreamy there not to see me there?
@pigeonplumtree are you in the mood of singing today?
@Artbesico I'm trying to educate the world through music. Is it working?
@pigeonplumtree I like it
Aww- thanks for the memories @pigeonplumtree I was in a camp production of Finian's Rainbow when about 7 or 8? Great songs all... The words I remember are a little different, but maybe they simplified for the kiddies :)
I think that should have read:
I am trying to educate the world in music.... ??
I fell asleep last night watching the horror channel, woke up at some stupid hour with the tv still on and pepa pig was showing
When did kids tv get that dark it warrant showing on the horror channel? Lol!
Was it morning already when you woke up?
I remember one time, long time ago, I was lying on the sofa watching telly. I woke up and there was just snow image on the tv (snow image after the end of the last programme on telly), it was a frightening image to wake up to.
Yep, it was around 6 when I woke up, switched off the annoying pig.....and went back to sleep
Teletubbies always frightened me. I prefer a nice little programme like Simon in the Land of Chalk. Now that was a great programme!
@pigeonplumtree What do you think of Pocoyo the animation?
@Artbesico huh?
Happy Magna Carta day!! On June 15, 1215, King John of England put his seal on the document at Runnymeade.
Of course, as soon as he could get away from his barons, the king proceeded to ignore Magna Carta’s provisions, stomp on everyone’s rights, and generally cause mayhem. He gave up England’s holdings in mainland Europe (except for Calais), lost the Crown Jewels while running away, and weakened England’s position and power in the world.
But once it was sealed into law, Magna Carta’s existence brought growing strength to restrict over-zealous English monarchs over the centuries.
So yay for the barons!
sounds like current world news headlines...
