It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

Thoughts?

I used to do different cuts on the sausages, deep fried or grilled them. My kids liked the variate of shapes.

Nine kids... sometimes, do all kind of shapes they wanted.

Mary, when we were kids sometimes we'd have hot dogs and no buns, so one of my parents would split it down the middle and then we'd put the halves on white bread and try to keep them from curling up! Now look, you can do that and call it hot dog art!

For those of us were raised on it, pickled herring are a special treat.   Ask any European and they will tell you, pickled herring is delicious.

Long live pickled herring!

Have eaten pickled herring .....  Both sets of grand parents were immigrants from Europe .... and I lived with one of them as a child.  Ate alot of " stuff" !!!  I remember herring and other odd foods being served as a special treat on New Year's Eve !

I remember trying all of it / can't say I was traumatized or have any bad memories of it ...... but nothing close is ever on my current shopping list !

We traditionally ate our pickled herrings at Christmas, but I sometimes get a craving for it throughout the year and I do buy a jar of the tidbits here and there.  I have a craving for them now.

@FunkyJunkyVintage . thank you. we are relieved. @ElizabethRosenArt . i certainly did not grow up with them in san francisco! my late grandmother was obsessively immaculate. other than her chain smoking she kept things under layers of lemon pledge, bleach, clorox, spic and span, polmolive, windex...

when they began ripping the building apart the bugs invaded next door as if it was ww2. they were unstoppable. :( they took over the toaster and the microwave, literally all throughout them, no way to ever make them food safe again.

but we just got a great new microwave delivered today, and i think the oven here should be able to toast under the broiler. the loss is for the best. the old microwave was really low powered and failing anyway. old toaster was pretty but not consistent. the latest amazon review on it, before it was discontinued, mentioned catching fire...

Catching fire?

what is it with this day and age and all these appliances turing themselves on, exploding and catching fire?

Not necessarily an appliance, but one of the most consistent items for catching on fire is the charging leads for smart phones.

I’ve had two flare up now. I used to leave my phone and iPad on charge overnight. Not any more.

I was told to buy Australian, which I did. But, it was the second one to go Pfffrrrtttttt!! In a flash of sparks and flame - bought from Office Works. The marketing on the lead packaging said ‘Australian Made’. My son had a look at the small metal part under 10 x magnification. There was the word ‘China’, so folks, what do you do?

They’re dangerous things. I’ve not yet been back to have a ‘chat’ at Office Works.

Melina.

PS...I had to remove a ‘bad word’ from my post before it would load. The word was d a m n!!

@ClubEsquire My stove turned on one day all by itself!

I found out that this particular model had a defect with one of the burners.  When the burner turned on by itself, I was unable to turn it off.  So, I had to unplug the stove from the wall and buy a new one.

I can't tell you how scary that was.  I'm just so thankful that it didn't happen in the middle of the night or while I was out.

How come way back in day, we never seemed to have problems like this our old appliances?

Ouch !   We're always charging phones here !   Have never heard of anything sparking or catching fire .....  Something to think about , as we usually plug in the phones at night before we go to sleep ...

Creepy !

@pigeonplumtree I actually tried eating ice cream with a banana first time that day, never had a banana split but was curious. I chopped the banana in chunks and added ice cream on them, not sure I liked it.
