It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular. It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.
You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.
Thoughts?
They always built things to last. The only good thing about new appliances, is that they are much more energy efficient.
I went refrigerator shopping a few weeks ago, just to see what is out there. I do not like most of the new models. They do not seem like they are very efficient on space. My current fridge is just a little over 10 years and my! How they have changed during that time!
I almost cry when the repair man told me, "The fridge is dead, gone, capoot. There are no parts for this mastodon anymore. It is discontinued."
I have been looking for new ones since the old one may collapse any moment. The most interesting is a model with the door completely transparent,
which allows to see what is inside without opening the door.
A neighbor bought a fridge which tells her what she has to buy, when she is running out of orange juice for example. She says the
bad thing is when the refrigerator tells you over and over to buy ice cream. The neighbor wonders if the applicance is not smart enough
to understand she wants to do diet and do not buy more ice cream.
@SwissZahlerArt . that is just too funny! it wants her to buy more ice cream! :)
Yes, but can it order pizza?
"You are on your last beer."
We’ve got a fridge here that will be 41 years old this year, a Kelvinator. It’s an awful creme colour. All we’ve ever done to it is replace the door seals. It’s in Barry’s workshop - his beer fridge.
In our home we’ve had 3 new fridges in the last 17 years, so they certainly don’t make them like they used to.
Just a bit of trivia.
Melina.
I guess I ought to be happy then that my fridge lasted almost 17 years (of proper working order). Of course, I had to get the tech out a few times, and that put some pretty heavy dents in my wallet...........
My mom and dad had a chest freezer that lasted for about that long and it was still working when they got rid of it. And here is the big kicker: They never had to repair it even once during the time they had it and they bought it second hand!!!
I think it was originally purchased in the early 1960s.
How the technology is going on nowadays... in the near future, the fridge may even tell me, "You have a sale on Etsy."
I want my future fridge to darn socks for me!
I want my future fridge to smell everything on garbage night and eject (neatly) that which is much past its prime! Excavate that which is shoved behind all else, forgotten. Maybe clean itself too.
Maybe it should bake pies...
... and knit a sweater at the same time....
Responded in the wrong place...
This sounds good. Yes, I want my future fridge to be a 2nd wife :) Can she drive too?
You can be the first to marry your fridge!
Where is Holly Hotpoint when you need her?
Your new avatar @pigeonplumtree is tickling my memory, but can't exactly place it. An old game? I've seen this face before...
Yes.... The Old Maid card game from Whitman. These were the 70s version of the cards and my personal childhood favourite. We had 2 sets and played with them until they were as soft as leather and we couldn't use them anymore.
This discussion is reminding me of just how badly my kitchen needs an upgrade.
And I hope your headache is gone soon @vlmkpyae
@GielDesigns . thanks. i got some sleep.
Elizabeth- She was Nellie Olsen on Little House On The Prairie. Laura Ingalls arch enemy.
@Lionfishvintage Yes, got that one- but she has a new one now (scroll up). Looks like an old maid game card maybe?? It's an illustrated face of an older gal...
Elizabeth- Oops! Didn't see that one.
I like to change my face often!
