Normally I don't mind but this is violent and violent towards women. I can't deal with it. It just made me feel ill. I've sent them a request but is there something I can do to avoid these things as picks? Is there a child setting or something? Or do I need to close my account and start over?
Well, I remember the same suggestion in other web sales pages. No way to get rid of them.
Just ignore the suggestions, "picks for you" based on your recent history.
Okay, thank you.
@vxdd5kew if you view and favorite some new things that you actually like, and might be looking for, new recent history will push these others further back in the line. There aren't any kid settings as you need to be 18 to have an account (there are exceptions for minors who sell with parental involvement- but not relevant here). Hope you can make this a bit better!
editing to add, if you add -mature (if these were surprise mature listings) to your search, there won't be any results that contain the word mature in the title and tags. adding the minus sign to any word in search will eliminate items that use that word. I do a lot of Ebay searches for art parts and use -plastic all the time! Culls the crapola.
Oh, thanks so much! I've tried that now and no longer see it. I can't imagine what I looked at that triggered it! Thank you again. :)
And I didn't know you could use - signs to eliminate things. I'll use that in future too. Thanks!
I've had zero luck with this. For months I've literally seen nothing but stamping blanks in my "our picks.. " section. No variation. I've viewed and favorited lots of other items and even un-favorited the shops where I purchased blanks in the past. I wrote Etsy back in January asking if there was anything they could do and I never received any kind of response.
Oh wow, so it's not just me being bothered by it. I haven't heard from them either. If I do I'll let you know. They need to allow you to reset it or something. I'm not crazy about other people deciding what I want anyway. :) I'm okay if they want to show what a fav shop has but the other things, even the non offensive ones are never what I want. How on earth do they think they can read my mind? I'm constantly interested in new things and there no way on earth they could know what those exactly are. I've never purchased one of their suggestions. But now they are just scaring me. :(
I totally agree. It was better when they showed items from people you follow. I'm not a fan of this artificial intelligence thingy that thinks it knows more about me than I do.
Hi again, an update. Etsy did contact me and said they can't clear it and have no way to do so. But that they would keep it in mind. So... for now if it happens I have to keep selecting things I do like over and over until it gets the message. It must have been one shop I went to and looked at one innocent seeming thing also had other stuff. :( I don't see why they can't give us the control to at least clear it. Their system just has no idea who I am - and actually I'd prefer to just eliminate the whole section. I don't WANT them to track me that way.
Thanks for the update! :-)
I never did hear anything back from Etsy. And despite viewing, favoriting and searching for other items, I've still gotten nothing but stamping blanks on that feed... no change whatsoever. It's become a total waste of space for me and, at this point, I just ignore it.
It's been a long time since I've logged in to the front page, because I didn't like it. On my bookmarks toolbar, I have my shop or sold items links, and just go directly there to log in.
With the Etsy sellers app, I see who favorite my items, and I often click to see what else that person likes; by using the Etsy buyers app. That opens up pics from other favorited shops that have beautiful things of similar interests as mine.
Also, I like to see shops of people in the forums, when they refer to one of their items that I might like.
