In a thread that was closed due to it being a discussion about a seller's items (started by someone else, not me) my posts were completely removed even though I had not said anything disparaging whatsoever, but was discussing stitches and needle size in regards to how fast knitting could go.

WTF??

Other people's posts remain visible who said things that could actually be offensive. Yet only my posts except one initial one, were zapped out of existence. Etsy fucking hates me.

I wrote a reply today to an initial post and when I  went to post it I got the big red warning that I was not allowed to post without a parent's permisson! As you say--WTH--If my parents were even alive they would be 105 and 108 years old reespectively! LOL

And I noticed the entire thread had disappeared.

Wow.  That is so strange, and so wrong!  I'm sorry that happened, @BreezeOnTheLake !  I wish these Teams were more active.  I wonder why they are not?

Think teams would be more active if it were less of a pain to sign in, simply so you can participate. Also, they are almost impossible to find. Can remember typing in the Exact Name of this Team & searching for it thru the 'teams section' after being unable to sign in & if memory serves it was on the 6th page of my search. I've had one post disappear - had Etsy phone # included - but you'd think they'd just 'bleep' the number & leave the remainder of the post/info. And sadly, think Etsy becoming less of a Community & more of a Selling Platform.

Interesting about the long sign ins......it took me almost two hours on my laptop, cleared cache, nothing helped, still not signing in, starting to wonder if it's admin retaliation just short of not actually muting.

I've had to use my Kindle, which signed in fast and uses a different IP address....hmm...scratching chin.

I did that last night  - I contacted the admin who closed the thread. There has been total radio silence, he never got back to me. Hence my frustration.

It happened again. Think there were about 3 or 4 separate threads - one up to 12 pages or more, all entirely deleted. And with the deletion go all my posts. Wow. Maybe I shouldn't even say what the topic was so as not to risk this disappearing (?) But do wonder why since the back & forth seemed civil & the statements by those posting quite honest. It was interesting to see varying opinions & would have thought it could be an interesting way for Etsy themselves to "collect data", sort of like an unofficial survey. Ah well, life goes on.

It appears to me that if a post breaks the rules of the forum, the whole thread is deleted, not closed, as was the practice before the change.  Inappropriate posts get the thread deleted in its entirety.  That is what I have observed.

While there must have been a 'method to their madness', have recently seen threads closed by Etsy - usually in Bugs - because the original post a couple of years old. The new poster advised to start their own thread. Well, then why were old threads imported &/or why the drop-down menu when you begin typing a thread title. Sometimes I just can't follow the logic & remind myself not to get to involved in the "thought process".

@BreezeOnTheLake  Don't feel bad hun. I had a condolances thread closed. Was a tad angry for a time, then thought it reflected more on them than me. What kind of person closes something like that? Someone without a heart. Chin up and carry on. I love reading your musings.

It wouldn't bother me so much if there was total consistency with what gets zapped. They set out rules but they seem to actually play around the edges of those rules themselves in terms of what they leave up and what they don't. :(

Never did hear back, either. Moving on, folks, eh, meh, lol.
