Maybe Floridians have a different definition of cold, but what's coming at, or has arrived, for our northerly neighbors sounds horrible. Everyone please stay safe.
Winter is a tough weather to like here in the northeast. But it can be tolerable if the ocean brings in some warm air. So you dress properly. But cold is one battle, way below frigid temps are another matter entirely. Lol no matter how you prepare. I take care of horses so I'm always out in it. But it gets harder Year by year. And the colder it is, the more care they require. End up outside longer than usual. One of these days I'll be able to just sip hot chocolate and stay warm.
Suppose to get in the negatives here, same here hot chocolate does sound good.
Negatives. Ooh that is awful. Lol. Stay snuggly
Winter landscapes are great to photo sunrise and sunsets with all the tree leaves down. You can see the pink skies, but below zero. Ooh. Hope it's not windy too
USPS closed in several STATES tomorrow!!!

-5 at the moment in Northwest Pennsylvania. Windchill warnings from now until Friday morning of -30 below. I will only be venturing outside when I have to.
@HandcraftedinNatureI am also in PA and had to go out this morning....minus 5 when I left at 10:00...going to be colder tomorrow. Put out bird seed though, they are hungry. Stay warm.
Yes its been brutal @ngeorgiou Last night it was -25 below not counting the wind. Could not get warm for anything. I haven't been outside since it started. Headed out now to fill bird feeders to keep them fed. Warmer temps in the near future to look forward to. I usually dont mind the cold but this is ridiculous.
It’s feeling cold and icy in Scotland but I was reading about parts of the USA being a lot colder than normal. Hope all the outdoor animals will be ok, as well as people of course, stay safe ❄️❄️❄️❄️⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️
@HandcraftedinNatureGood weather to work on the carvings....love the shore bird one.
Fairly icy and cold here for us in Scotland too. i've been watching the crazy vortex weather in the US too. I really hope it improves for everyone soon.
It is 3 below in my neck of the woods, lots of below zero temps this past week and going into this weekend but my furnace is working good, I have the back faucet dripping just a bit so my pipes don't freeze and darn it I can not think of a better reason to stay in the house and create.
My house is cracking! Lots of loud sounds from the extreme cold contracting and expanding - what? Wood? Some sound like a bowling ball being throw at a wall! Neg. 20 here in Wisconsin.
Pillow Details---- No! Your house is cracking. How scary. Keep us updated . Hope you're O.K.
It is bitterly cold. I'm working the after hours emergency town dispatch until midnight tonight and we've had two water main breaks already today due to icing problems. I get all the after hours Animal Control calls too to pass on to the on-call person, and I always worry about any pets as well that get lost out in these temperatures. I just relay the information to the right people and don't usually get to hear back whether they're found safe or not, so I just hope for the best each time. I have an electric crew out now working on a power outage as well, and I have to give massive appreciation to all the people who have to be working outside in this weather. The wind makes it brutal. It hurt my face just walking from the car to the building. Nights like these, I am very grateful for the automatic starter my husband installed on my car, so I can at least get into a warm car when I get out at midnight!
You can tell when it's super cold when it feels like the air in your cars tires is frozen! Makes you think your driving with square tires. -30C here tonight---Monday +5C---almost short sleeve weather!
Made it through the polar vortex up here in Wisconsin. It felt so good to get out and about today at a balmy 20F above 0 instead of 20F below 0! Take care those of you to the east. It is a slamer of a storm. But it does go away. Tomorrow we get to 40F : )
Wednesday in Chicago, I had to leave our home at 5:30 am. The car in the garage registered the outside air at +20F. As I drove down the street I watched the temp drop down to -22F within a couple of blocks. The wind-chill was -52. Our mail delivery and garbage pick-up was suspended for a couple of days. Had to explain to a customer in California that their package would be delayed due to "cold weather". Looking forward to some 40+ and a little rain this weekend. Fun times!
