I'm usually pretty good at rolling with the punches, going with the flow, etc. of changes made on Etsy. But I just cannot get used to these forums. I still feel very shut out, and find them hard to navigate. It is still making me sort of sad.
Upside, is I'm getting much more done, because I'm just not hanging out here as often. But I miss interacting with everyone.
Me too. They are much more tedious to navigate and feel fractured and disconnected. The search is far worse than before, so it's virtually impossible to find useful threads. I'm afraid we may be stuck with it, but the change was far from an improvement in any way.
@FeltInMyHeart I completely agree with you.
I agree. It's completely discouraging. I used to browse/participate every day in the old forums/teams and click and visit shops too. Now I don't bother much as it is tedious and mostly dead ends. Besides, there are only a fraction of the participants, so far, and few replys. Then there's figuring out navigation within a thread (or anywhere else) and finding and sorting is headache producing. It's completly nuts... especially when 2 of my 3 browsers do not even work here.. I end up loggin out and in and out and in... ad infinitum.
Shelley, I agree. It requires so much work, so much scrolling, not to mention the many time recently when it simply will not let me sign in.
I, too, miss the old forums. The forums now are so fragmented and hard to navigate. They still have "community" in the name, but Etsy has removed the community spirit. Also, the censorship is awful. I posted a thread that wasn't just shut down but totally disappeared in an hour. It didn't fit the new format. I seldom look at them anymore, which is sad. I really enjoyed Etsy's old forums.
Team chit chat is not the same as the chit chat on the old forum, it's dead quiet, nothing much happening. It would be nice if there is a chit chat area on the new main forum so everyone can easily access and visit on a daily basis. I think we need that, a common place for sellers, buyers and visitors, to gather and chit chat - a community.
*sigh*
Oh my gosh! (Okay...that was a little fun. Thanks.)
Well, we’re in the process of diversifying quite a lot and taking a new direction as a result. I’m not so sure we’re going to do it here now, but anyway I needed someone with specific skills (illustrator, photo shop and more etc) to assist with new logo, banners, and branding. I was also very specifically trying to give my business to a seller here on Etsy, rather than anywhere else. So, I posted in the brand building forum, I think it’s called. It was the only one, after a lengthy and frustrating search, that I thought appropriate.
Very fortunately for me I received some early help from some kind people within before the thread was summarily shut down completely. Reason: (1) I had posted in the wrong thread (2) It is against new forum policy to solicit that kind of help.
Gobsmacked!!
I am still totally bewildered and so disappointed. I don’t think I need to explain why.
Another thread just disappeared into cyberspace, never to be seen again with no explanation, because I voiced an objective opinion about the new forums and current Etsy leadership.
Gobsmacked again!!
Im wandering about in the dark without a flashlight expecting someone to jump out from behind a tree. That’s about sums it up I think.
Melina.
