Another busy day ahead of work, and all the usual family busy stuff - plus we have our two kids parent teacher conferences tonight. Always interesting to hear what their teachers have to say about them!

Jacqui - Good luck in the BNR today. I'll be working. We just switched computer programs at work, so we're trying to fix all the billing bugs out there...it's been busy.

Well, I ordered a TON of candle stuff last night...so that'll be on it's way to me today. I still have to order the wax...but my debit card has a limit per day. I had to have the bank stretch the limit for yesterday for the candle order....and that wasn't enough to cover 100 lbs of wax on top of everything else. I'll be getting that tonight.

Two new scents are coming: Citronella and Honeysuckle Jasmine.

Jacqui : yes, my work is better, I'm not so stressed, but as we have weaving looms (I'm working in a textile company), there's a lot of dust and fibers flyings, my allergies have increased a lot these last days ...

Morning Peggy. Yay, you're almost done! That's awesome. It used to take my mom around 18 months to do a quilt but that was because she did everything by hand. Could never do that! I'm too impatient.

Jacqui, hope you are able to accomplish all you need to today. How is Timber? Was so glad to hear yesterday that you had found the cause of the limping. So scary.

Ambur, 100#'s of was? WOW, that's a lot. How big is that? I didn't know that debit cards had daily limits on what you could spend. Interesting. And I love honeysuckle! What a great scent and the Citronella is just in time for mosquito season that will be coming.

Me? Well, yesterday I was contacted by the owner of the store where I teach. She wants to meet with me to share their vision for the future of the fabric end of the store. I'm meeting with her at 10 today. Trying to keep an open mind abut where I think they're are going with this. I love the classes I'm teaching now but not sure I want to take on more at this point. I'll keep you posted after we meet.

After that I hope to be glued into my sewing room not to leave until I've completed at least one new project.

It's cloudily and rainy here again today. Cooler too which I'm ok with. Supposed to clear up and be cold and clear this afternoon thru the weekend. Hope so! I'll try and stop by the BNR today.

Well I had a request on my Facebook last night inquiring about wholesaling some of my items - the girl re-sells other people's natural bath & beauty items, but it looks like she keeps the original labels and doesn't try to claim them as her own or anything. I emailed her some questions this morning - how many, does she have a standard agreement, who's paying the shipping to Greece, etc. So we'll see. Obviously I would do nothing without being paid first. I'm guessing this will not pan out since I can't really discount my prices much and I'm certainly not paying shipping to Greece.

Jen I hope it does pan out for you but yeah, a lot of times with things like that the people dont really think it all out first and then get overwhelmed when people start asking questions.lol.

I'm up....finally. We were up really really late last night. We didn't get home until after midnight and then my hubby decided it was time to do the dishes, sweep the whole apartment and mop. So yeah, that happened.lol. Needless to say I'm still a bit groggy. And anxious to get the rest of our T4's so we can do our taxes! I'm so impatient with that...I always want them done by the beginning of February but I know employers have until the END of Feb to get the forms out. With st patty's coming up I really should get my beer pint earrings posted so hopefully the light will cooperate soon!!

I'm assuming some of you have been hit already with the new "look" of our shop pages - ie no banner and the listings are listed according to the order they were put in, rather than our carefully planned layouts according to product, color or whatever.

I got hit with it today and it looks like sh*t. The forums have been overwhelmed with hatred for this look. I could live without a banner - I could if I had to. But I (and most of you) have spent a LOT of time organizing and rearranging my shop into sections and groupings. So the order they have my stuff in now makes it look like I just slapped my shop together without a care!

The (kinda) good news is that most of the people who have been experimented on with this look have been returned to the regular look within a day or two.

Seriously, is there nothing more productive and practical Etsy could be working on right now? (like a shipping calculator!!!)

I don't mean to just pop in but has anyone noticed anything weird with their photos today? my thumbnails are changing. To random things. Like my rings a few items it changed to like a live action photo of the "powerpuff girls" and another one is a guy sitting at a table. it's really weird....when i click into the item it's fine, everything is normal and the photo is gone but the thumbnail is still changed. Anyone else notice that?

I am just waving waving to everyone on my way out, here.

We (me and my future husband) just finished to fix the pants for his wheelchair bound dad. WE already critic it by ourselves, what need improvements etc. SO we're just waiting on the test drive.

And then I will look into starting maybe a new shop for adaptive clothing ... I'll chat with him about it.

Ok, I got to go..it's also wrapping the plate I have to ship. WEll, I am testing it and this time taking a picture on how I wrapped it so that if custom open it and don't close it back and it arrives in million pieces, I have a leg to stand this time because I sold that plate for less than I paid for it so I am already in deficit. And I decide to put in a gift anyway for the customer. I went to see what she was doing and went to my precious stash were I kept things that are unique from my travel around the world and I am adding it in. I am pretty sure she'll like it, considering her trade. I love giving thing that people know the value of without I tell them about the value of.

I'll gladly offer to redo it to the customer because I love my customers...and a job well done, but I am not really happy with custom.

Guys, if you want a sneak peak on art piece that are fragile, rewrap the thing.

Ok, I'm back. Jen, that's interesting that you got a wholesale inquiry. It will be interesting to see how far they are willing to take it. Just don't undersell yourself. And congrats on the sale!

I checked my shop and didn't see any changes at all. Should I have? If so, what should I be looking for?

Nuria that sounds really interesting what you do. It's a shame they don't make a textile that you can somehow use in your shop.

Krystal, first of all, your HUSBAND wanted to stay up later and clean? Really? You sure don't hear that very often and I believe I would have told him, "Great, have a wonderful time. I'm going to bed." I've never felt that pressing need to be cleaning and mopping in the middle of the night. (or even in the middle of the day! LOL)

And yes, they did want to talk about more classes. I had planned to take all of April and May off since we'll be out of town for part of both of those months. Instead I have agreed to teach the first two sessions of the stitch classes both months just to keep the continuity going.

We also discussed have a summer camp for kids 8 and up and then another camp after that for those who had taken the first to do a little more advanced project. They also just figured out that my experience is in garment making, so I offered to teach a one day class on the pencil skirt all three summer months. If we get a good response, I may be teaching it more than once a month thru the summer. It stands to be a pretty popular class.

The best thing about it was just getting to meet with them. What's been so crazy to me is that neither of them has had any real contact with me since I started teaching. Not once have they called or emailed me asking how it was going or do you have any questions or anything. It was pretty much, "Ok here you go. " To me that's not a very effective way to do business. How did they even know if I was teaching it correctly? Oh well.

I went into this not sure if I wanted any additional exposure there, but had also prayed that I would be a good listener and open to whatever the Lord had in mind. So far His plan for me has been so much better than the one I had and I think we're still on the right track.

Patricia, they seem to be picking people at random (buyers & sellers) and if they pick you, you see everyone's shop with the new layout, which is a horrible look. So for you, every shop you look at will still look the same. But for me, since I've been "chosen", every shop I look at has the new ugly look (my own included). Tomorrow they will probably switch me back to normal and choose a bunch of others to mess with.

Take a look at the forums and about 90% of the topics are about this change right now. It is one of their lovely "tests" which means they will probably make it this way for everyone soon. I have not seen a single positive comment about it, probably because it sucks.

Hi Everyone! For the last couple days I have been playing around with making fabric flowers in between making frames. It is fun to do something different every once in a while. I wish I could show you pictures! I am going to try a different kind of flower this weekend.

It is cold here again and I am back in my sweat pants. They are predicting 3 to 5 inches of snow Monday. Just 5 days ago we had 60°. I will be happy when this darn winter is OVER!!!

So far Jen I have not been hit with Etsy's test. It is all well and good that Etsy has the luxury to muck around with our shops but we are not allowed to muck around with them. I am sure the forums are screaming from the top of their lungs. I know things in business needs to constantly change but every business has a baseline from which it operates and that should not change. Can you imagine Coke Cola, Proctor Gamble, or Macy's changing their logo? That would be a killer to their brand. Oh Well!

Have to get dinner started, Ben goes in early tonight. Back Later!

Jen - yay for the sale, boo for the layout. I like my banner...I spent time on that too.lol. did they say WHY they are trying to do new banners? seems random!! And you are right, i am the exception. the very odd exception.lol. The admin guy wrote me back laughing at me pretty much saying he's never seen anything like that happen before.haha

Eejee - I love giving free gifts too :) I give one with every order pretty much, sometimes a few gifts.haha. And I try and pick through their favorites before hand to try and see what kind of gift they might like. It's time consuming but I like to think the customer appreciates it :)

Patricia - That's cool! Are pencil skirts hard to make? And a summer camp meaning for kids kids?? Like little kids?lol. That'd be a hoot :D Or stressful, not sure which.haha. Its funny the doors that God opens for us eh? Sometimes taking us in a direction we definitely didnt see for ourselves :) Just gotta trust in his plan!!

I gave Wade (my pug) a raw hide donut type thingy about ...oh i dunno...3 hours ago. At 11 something. And he's been walking around with it in his mouth hiding it in different places this whole time. I dont know why he doesnt just eat the damn thing.haha. But hey...it's kept him entertained this long so i should just leave him be.LOL. Love that boy....he's the worst at hiding things too. He'll put it down in the blankets and use his face to push the blankets over the treat but most of the time once he's satisfied it's still in plain site.haha. Then he has to pick it back up and start again somewhere else.lol.

So i took a bunch of pics and this afternoon I'll see i they are any good or not. Fingers crossed they're editable at least!! I want to get stuff listed finally! I made something kindda cool today too...a notebook cover. with spiderman, superman and batman on it. i loves it :D trying to decide now if i'll list it or keep it.lol.

I forgot to mention about the test layout - there is no shop announcement, no shop open date and all the buttons that used to be on the side - contact owner, request custom order, shop policies, etc, are buried way at the bottom and very small.

Good grief Jen, what are they attempting to do? You would think that the least they would do is ask people in advance if they would like to be part of the test.

If people lost sales or something like that I could see someone suing Etsy over that for messing with their shop. I love my new banner and I paid for it so that's what I want to use.
