THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Good Morning Happy Folk!

Welcome to all the new members and welcome back to returning teamfolk!lol

This thread is going to be all about questions, suggestions and random chit chat! Anything that doesn’t fit in the other threads…well, then it goes here! Don’t forget to check out our pinned threads, there’s lots to do! Just like most teams - the more you give and participate, the more you get back so be sure to wet your toes as much as you can! We promise to try and keep this a fun and relaxed environment. Hopefully it’ll be a place to better your shop and maybe make some friends along the way!

Good morning everyone! So sorry for not getting the chat up! I thought that I had hit “post” but apparently I didn’t. I know lately we’ve had lots of chat by now so I feel extra guilty for not getting it up yet.lol.

Well I’ve reached 100% of my internet usage for the month already. I guess Netflix sucks up more of my bandwidth than I expected. I may switch providers to get a cheaper plan…but I’ll have to wait because their set up fees are ridiculous. Today my hubby is off so we’re going to be bumming around. We have to head to the bank and then might pop into Michaels because I need to get some polymer clay. Other than that it’s a lazy day!

What are you guys up to today? Are you pining for the chat?lol. Are ya in a meeting at work? Maybe you are getting up late too!! Whatever it is you are up to…come let us know – we want to hear from you!! :D

How about some quotes??

“There’s not a word yet, for old friends who’ve just met” – Jim Henson

“My hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here” – Jim Henson

“I don’t know exactly where ideas come from. It’s just a matter of us figuring out how to receive the ideas waiting to be heard” – Jim Henson

Good morning Krystal! My internet is ridiculously high and I'll be looking into other options soon. Unfortunately some of the providers are not eager to take me back because of past accounts...

Losing my flipping mind at work today, so with that I bid you adieu.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Good morning !!

Krystal : You know one thing ? I have Polymer clay and Fimo that I don't use, so I could send it you you, and for sure you would make super beautiful things with it.
I started making polymer clay a few time ago, but I had to stop making it as I have tendinitis in both wrists ...

Great quotes !

I'm going to work a little bit now, as I've been on the computer till now, so I still haven't done anything.
Will try to come later on.

Wish you all a very nice day ! :)

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Love the Quotes!

Good Morning Krystal! You know I was itching for the chat to be up... :) Can't wait to see your new polymer clay creations! Showed my Mom Eva's penguin yesterday, she loved it as much as I did. Have fun bumming around! :)

Jennifer- Hope work slows down a bit for you. Too bad, you don't have a snow day like the rest of your area. Hope you have a great day-

Nuria- Have fun creating!

Vito- Glad you enjoyed your snow day! Love your new bracelets!

Dee- Great new listings. Hope you feel better soon!

Marla- Best wishes sent your way that the Dr.'s appointment goes well and your eyes start to feel better soon. Let us know how it goes. Take care of yourself.

Sorry if I missed anyone... Faved all of yesterday's wonderful new listings.

Everyone was so chatty yesterday, sorry I did not stop back in... Was feeling pretty rotten. So what do I do, deep clean my house.
Very much like the other kitties mentioned in chat, my Soria is like a dog in many ways. She totally has me trained. Wake up call in the morning for her tuna snack, fetches a mouse for me to throw, meows at my bathroom door to turn on the faucet for her She will only drink out of her water dish if she sees me pour bottled water in it. She even loves to be on a harness and leash and stroll around the outside area. My kitty/doggie, is very much the Queen of the house. Poor sweet Timber, just lets her run the show.

Believe it or not, Tim is stuck at home because we have a snow/ice day... Imagine that.

I am going to tackle my workroom now, then edit some pics. If I feel up to it, I will get back to creating.

Here is one new listing from me...

https://www.etsy.com/listing/177264818/yellow-jade-bracelet-large-viking-weave?ref=shop_home_active_...

Hope everyone has a Fabulous Day!

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Jen - It can get pricey. We just knocked off our cable to get it down a bit...we were close to the end of the month but not quite there and i cant stay away from netflix and the internet for 3 days so i know we'll have to up it.lol. You should put a GPS on your mind...just so you don't lose it permanently

Nuria - That would be awesome! Yeah, I really love working with polymer. I haven't done much lately because I only have red and white left (from my Christmas purchase of clay.lol)

Jacqui - That's cute. My old cat was weird about her water too. She would NEVER drink water out of a bowl. She had to be on the counter, drinking it right out of the faucet or she wouldnt drink at all. Even when she got too old to jump up on the counter anymore she'd sit at the bottom and wait for you to lift her up.lol. Love the new listing and that's cool that Tim's home! Hopefully he lets you work.lol.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Does anyone have any good suggestions on getting people to actually read anything?

I'm so frustrated with answering questions about shipping and processing when I have that information stated in so many places. I would save so much time if I wasn't having to respond to these kinds of questions. I had one girl yesterday send me a message three times in the time I was driving home from the shop to ask me about my processing time.... Another lady sent me a message with the link to her order telling me that she hasn't received it yet and asking if it's been shipped. On the order, it states the scheduled shipping date for Feb 4. It just adds to my stress and I need to find ways to eliminate a little.
Anyway sorry to vent, this is just going to be one of the most stressful ever for me between the move, still trying to work out the details of leaving my day job, 58 open orders, and court with the former owner of our other business on Monday! God help me just get through this week!!

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Marla if you find a way to get people to read, let me know! At work we send forms to clients to sign & date, sometimes fill out. We tell them where to sign in the letter that goes with it, we highlight where they are to sign and we also have little sticky arrows that point at the spot they are supposed to sign. I can't even tell you how many times we have had to send stuff back to them because they did it wrong! I mean, what else can you do??

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Sorry Marla, Jen's right.lol. It's impossible. People are always looking for a shortcut and easy answers. It's the sad sad truth.

Have you guys seen CNN lately? What Atlanta looks like? I don't mean to get a Northern Superiority Complex but seriously people, it's 2 inches. And you can cry out oh there were no snow plows or we dont have snow tires. But really, my car doesnt have snow tires and the snow plows arent constantly clearing the roads here and we dont have 900 accidents in one evening.lol. Let's be real...people panicked. People tried to rush home thinking they can drive the same way they normally do and started causing accidents and piling things up making everyone else stuck. My father in law just got home NOW from work. He finished work yesterday at 5pm. Thank goodness he didn't get hurt, but a lot of people did. Talk about ill prepared.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Good morning everyone,

Jacqui, love the new listing :), good Tim is home, maybe you get him to help you around the house so you can relax a bit :)

Krystal and Jen, I'm surprised about the internet usage :) I'm probably need to get in there more coz it never happened to me :) I really wish you guys get a better provider, good luck :)

Marla, I'm sorry for all that stress :) I actually had the same type of emails once but they never got to purchase anything at the end.... does people expect to get everything for free and right away? lol I'm with you on your frustration :)

Easy day today, had couple of sales in the last few days and a custom order request that I finished up shipping today :) it does actually brings my mood up :) specially when I can't really do much work with all this moving craziness :) I kind of had to shut off my shop because I have to get all my equipment ready to go on Monday.

Have to get back on packing, have to go to the store and pick up some more boxes :) talk to you guys later, have a wonderful day everyone.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Am putting together a few pans of lasagna. I love to eat it but I have remembered why I don't make it more often-it dirties a bunch of pans and bowls! Oh, well, it will taste good tonight.

Jacqui, sorry you are getting some of the cold weather.

Marla, when do you see the eye doctor?

Mimi, good luck on all the packing.

Jennifer, people don't read, a given. Was it on our chat or on FB that a customer had wanted a quote on a custom order, owner quoted; customer didn't like quote and priced out all the suplies. Owner asked her what she thought was a fair price, customer gave the price of the supplies, owner agreed, posted the custom listing, customer paid, and owner shipped her a box of all the supplies. Customer was furious, owner said you got exactly what you paid for. You want it put together, that is what my price was. I just loved reading that. Thought you might all get a laugh out of it.

Krystal, I agree, Atlanta will stop when there is a dusting.

Well, back to the lasagna noodles and then to quilting.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Wait a minute, when did daily chat become public? I thought this was the one that stayed private, for team only? I think we need to reconsider this being public.

I just looked back on yesterdays-it was private.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Krystal you totally pulled a "me" today- thinking you hit send to post the chat is something my addled brain would have done!!

I got two orders yesterday and didn't even know it- haven't been hearing the ka-ching in awhile I think I forgot how to listen for it.

I am heading back to my mom's storage today with Jennifer and her new minivan. (Mike's grandparents bought them it since her car died and I was taking her everywhere- it was the nicest present they could have gotten those kids! I am grateful.) I can only get so much in my PT Cruiser at a time and she has a big file cabinet and glass curio I don't know how to move.

I will try to pop in later to see what everyone is up to.

Jacqui and Marla I hope you get to feeling better soon- sorry to hear you are not well.

Jennifer hang in there with the job- sorry you didn't get a snow day :-(

Hi Mimi and Nuria- hope you have a great day!

Peggy you snuck in on me while I was typing! Hello!

The chat is supposed to be private I think it was a slight oversight - Krystal was late putting the chat up and I am sure it was by accident.

It is supposed to be private Peggy... When we post, we have to manually change the box to private, must have been oversite. If you want, I can close the thread and re-post as private.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

I read everybody's posts.

Just spent an hour and a half at the doc's office. Kiddo has slight pneumonia (sp?). They drew blood, took x-rays and nebulized my poor Kiddo. Lots of tears.

Needless to say, I took the day off today.

I got an order while I was at work yesterday...one of my 30 tea light sets. I have to whip up more lilac before I ship it off.

No problem, It is just that sometimes we say things that are only meant for ourselves, not the general public.

Re: THAT Daily Chat (01.29.14) – Talk about a slacker!

Hi Everyone! I finally got my computer back but I am still trying to make things the way I like them. What a nightmare! I did pick up a book and read a few days, that was fun. I got to register for the Etsy Town Meeting, that was interesting. LOL!!!

Speaking of the Etsy Town Meeting. I know on the Etsy Town Hall Meeting yesterday, they droned on about us being Transparent on our about pages but I for one believe Etsy needs to do the same for us. They talked about changes but were rather vague, if or when these changes will happen. As for the Beta Testing they are always doing, they do not want to give you a heads up, so the results are not biased.

The biggest thing they were trying to justify was the manufacturing issue and seeing if they can smooth the waters on this subject. Although, they were not sure how to fix some of the problems surrounding the manufacturing issues that is upseting us. Supposely they are going to be more proactive in finding these resellers themselves, so we do not have to do the work for them. I do not bother looking for these shops, because I have enough on my plate as it is and there does not seem to be a solution if you do find one.

They did have people coming up to the microphone to ask their questions and mostly it was about the manufacturing issue. Etsy does not want to recommend manufacturing businesses for you to use but when you do find one, you have to give Etsy all the information, so they can look into seeing if this manufacturer provides an ethical work enviroment.

It was kind of like the presidental town meeting last night on TV. The nice thing about what was said last night was, that the minimum wage might go up to $10.10, bad news if this happens, there will be no more fast food jobs, grocery store jobs or service industry jobs. No one ask the question, How are these people suppose to buy the mandatory health care benefits with no job?

I got my computer back last night and it has been a rollercoaster ride to he!! trying to get everything back into place. These past few days I have now made friends with a good portion of Asia. I still have much more I need to do but I am able to operate with what I have finished so far. I did not realize I needed to be a programmer, software developer, and Tech support person when I bought this darn computer. These past few days cost me $350.00 to fix everything and the funny thing is, that is how much I paid for this darn computer. Oh Well, this is the cost of running a business.

I hope all is doing well and things are going well for you. Talk Later!
