Help a newbie out :)

Hello everyone!

So I opened my shop on Sunday (finally!!) and to be honest I'm finding it all a bit overwhelming, being a professional graphic designer I thought I'd understand all the marketing tactics behind having a successful shop but at the moment I seem to be staring at it going "whaaaaaaaat??"

So first up if any of you have a minute to spare can you please take a quick look at my shop and give me a honest critique? I only have a few products up there at the minute (working on more constantly) but would love some feedback on anything you can help me with - photography, descriptions, the brand in general, how I could improve it, etc.

Any and all help will be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, Jenny! Congratulations on your new shop! Your designs look very pretty.

My advice is to try to add more items so as to be seen.

Yes, it's not easy. Etsy is a whole universe with its rules (that change faster then I would like myself :)) and tactics for successful sale.

I'd suggest you to add even more items to your shop, so as to be seen. Your descriptions are ok. Your titles too. But don't expect a miracle overnight. You have to start promoting your work as well.
Also join some teams that are informing of SEO on Etsy.
Follow the Etsy Blog, as well Etsy forums (when you open the home page - down in blue you will see the links).

Etsy needs a lot of reading so as to be aware of how it works.

If I can help with some advice, feel free to contact me.

Good luck!

Re: Help a newbie out :)

Thank so much for taking the time to look at my shop and respond :) really appreciate it!

Yeah I've got quite a few designs in the pipeline that I'll be uploading as soon as they're done as I'm aware I need many more. I'm going to be doing wedding stationery too which I hope will drum up some interest.

Also I make artificial wedding bouquets which I was thinking of listing as well - then I can offer packages such as get your wedding flowers and all your wedding stationery for one bundle price (or separately). Do you think that's a good idea or would it confuse my brand?

I've set up a Facebook page (facebook.com/candyfacecreative)
which is growing in likes and I've also set up a Pinterest account with all my current designs on too (pinterest.com/candyfacecr), so I'm getting there!

Does promoting your items within the forums tend to help?

Thanks again :) x

Hi, Jenny!

Yes, this idea of combined offereing sounds very good.

Just passing by for a short reply. Yes, I think promoting in forums helps. Also it helps to promote in certain promo teams. But you have to nicely select them. This is my personal opinion, of course. Also playing in promo games might rise your popularity in Etsy and make you visible.

I would be happy if someone else shares an experience about it.
