What’s one change I should make?

I’d love to have some fresh eyes take a look at my shop. What’s at least one change I could make? Many thanks in advance!

Hi, Lydia! Your water colors are beautiful! Your photos of them look good and your tags are pretty descriptive, so I decided to run a search for your geen and yellow contemporary watercolour. When I typed in green yellow contemporary watercolour, yours was the first to display on google images. But if I spelled watercolor with the u, it didnt appear anywhere near the beginning, if at all. Perhaps you could try using both spellings in your tags. I don't know if it will work, but I know if I were searching, for a painting I would spell color like this. Just keep in mind what people would type in a search engine if looking for an item similar to yours. I try to do that myself and it isn't always easy! :o Good Luck to you, you do beautiful work!

Kathy, thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to look through my shop!

I use both “watercolour” (British spelling) and “watercolor” in various item titles and descriptions so that I’m covered either way in a Google search (i.e.some items will show up under “watercolour” and others will show up under “watercolor”)


As far as item tags - those do not show up in Google search results. Etsy does not make those tag words visible to Google. And Etsy makes no distinction between the two spellings. The same items will appear no matter how watercolour is spelled.

I think I might try matting some of my artwork...

This I wasn't aware of, so thank you for teaching me. Matting would be a great idea, too! And I guess I the ones I saw were all with colour. Random, but there it is! Again, Good Luck to you!
