Photo Critique

The only comments I've really had from critiques are that my photos are too bright and the silver merges in with the background.

So I've re-done my bird's nest section, take a look please. What do you think?

Also I've added a watermark, whats your opinion on watermarks?

Thanks

Beth x

Re: Photo Critique

I think the grey looks much better as far as being able to see the details. Is that the color of paper your pieces come on? If so, even better because it just makes your brand that much more cohesive. I can personally do with or without the watermark.

Re: Photo Critique

The photos with the grey background look way better than those without...its just much easier to clearly see the whole item and the details.

Re: Photo Critique

That's a hard one.
I think the photos on the grey background look great but some of the ones pictured on the lighter background look even better. Sorry I'm probably not much help.

Re: Photo Critique

Hi there, Beth!

You have some lovely items, I had to favorite your shop. Really, I don't think the mix of grey and white is all that distracting but if you were to chose between the two, I'd go with the grey because it would be more universally flattering to your products.

That said, since this does seem to be an issue for you, might I suggest going with something completely different?

You have a variety of different colors and details throughout your shop, making it hard to pick a simple background, right? So I think maybe your jewelry could really benefit from being in a more "staged" environment rather than a minimilistic one.

Like these for instance:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/96523959/cycle-crystal-necklace-vintage-bronze?ref=br_feed_9

The staging can help solidify what your "brand" is as well.

That's all just a suggestion though and I do believe that your current photos are well done. :3

Re: Photo Critique

I vote for the grey backgrounds. I am not a huge fan of white backgrounds, plus whenever you have anything silver, it just washes out with a white background. You need some contrast. The watermark is cute, but I would not have it on the first photo of your listings. Otherwise, lovely shop! :)
