I'm new and want to start out right!

Good morning! I just opened my shop about a month ago. I have had 1 sale, get maybe 20-30 views, and a few favorites a day. I have joined promotion teams, which I participate in at least daily, and I pin to Pinterest. But I am not getting any sales. I have read a lot about tweaking titles and tags, but I am not sure what to change. I have also tried to display the products in an aesthetically pleasing way.

The lack of sales makes me nervous I'm not going to lie, I am still a little uneasy about my work and whether or not it is "sellable." (Specially since I am still working on more pieces to add.) Are my prices too high? Should I be doing more promotion? Do I need to improve the photography? Or should I just be more patient? :)

I really appreciate any advice!

Thanks so much-- Denise

I think your stuff is nice. I think you could make your listing photos better and more clear. As for tags, it's best to use tags that are two words and that a potential customer would type into search. I would try something like, 'inspirational quotes, office decor, bedroom decor, original painting, watercolor painting.'

You've only been open less than a month. Definitely keep at it because there's so much to learn and do here on Etsy. Good luck.

I think your photography is great. I like the variety of photos in each listing. Could you fill the last two photo slots?
Your tags are lacking. I love this listing above, it's beautiful. But let's think like a buyer:
Will I search you by name? Probably not.
I'm assuming your "etsy promotion" tag is from a team? I put that in the search bar and you weren't in the first 5 pages of listings for that search. I think you're wasting valuable space with it. Unless you've seen sales with that search, let your product tags use that spot!

"Watercolor" is getting there but needs another word with it.
Maybe
bright watercolor
sunshine watercolor
yellow watercolor
And whatever you have in your tags you should also have in your title. Google will say "hey, that matches and we'll rank this high on search results."
Tags and titles is an art form in itself. I'm just now catching on to SEO and tags. My sales are good but I am excited to take it to the next level. I think by joining teams and studying up you will have great success. Continuous improvement!

Re: I'm new and want to start out right!

It took me about a month to get my first Etsy sale and I only have 19 sales and have been open since October 12th. It can take sometimes as long as four months before you get even one sale! So don't get so discouraged so quickly :)

In your announcements, try starting off with some phrases about what you sale: Watercolor Paintings, Original Wall Art, Hand Painted Artwork; Unframed Paintings; Custom Watercolor Paintings; Abstract Art; etc. and then what you have now.

You don't have any policies - shipping, refunds and returns, etc. You REALLY need to have this filled out and it should be one of the first things you do! I'd also suggest an About Page so potential customers can get to know you and how you create your paintings.

Try using all five photo slots Etsy provides you so buyers can really get a feel for your artwork. Include close-ups of various details. Maybe also include a photo of them framed (if they come unframed) and / or on a wall (but be sure to state once again in your descriptions AND policies that they come unframed and the photo of it in a frame is for reference only) so customers can get a feel of what it'd look like if they framed it or hung it up and what the size would look like above, say, a couch or something.

Your titles and tags could use a few changes. For example:

Strength; Blue, Purple, Pink, Orange; 11x14 Framed Original Watercolor **Can create custom look/color*

I'd try something like: Watercolor Painting with Rainbow Sunset; Purple & Blue Original Artwork Framed; Strength Word Art Painting

Or something to that effect. I'd remove the "custom look" part and the "11x14" measurements but use them in the description. I also wouldn't repeat more than a few words and if you do repeat them (like I did in the above suggestion and like I also do in mind) only repeat it once and somewhat far apart.

If your title looked like that, then your tags could be something like these:

Watercolor Painting
Rainbow Sunset
Watercolor Sunset
Purple Artwork
Blue Artwork
Original Artwork
Word Art
Art Painting
Strength Painted
Framed Art
Framed Painting

Try and match exact phrases and / or connect the words in your tags in the same order they are in your title. Try to use 2+ words in each tag and fill all 13 tags.

Hope that helps! I'm still learning all of this myself and have had to make SO many changes since I started but it's worth it! Definitely starting to see improvements in my views and sales.
