However, I certainly agree that Handmade should not be in your title. Its basically a waste of space and definitely a waste when its your first word. Not just a waste, but harmful. Your first three words are most important in your title and your first sentence in your description so you want to make them count.
The ENTIRE idea behind Etsy is handmade, so why would you even need to have the word in your title?
I definitely think 'pottery' should be in your title, but not as one of the first three words.
Whatever you decide to do, make your title and first sentence in your description the same. Then, go on to describe as you normally would. When I was given this advice and did it, I immediately saw a spike in sales that I could barely handle! No joke.
You should also use keywords in your shop title/announcement...
