Critique and Advice Needed

I'd really appreciate any shop critique that you can give me. I have recently taken on board advice from varying sources about having a plain white background so that your items stand out and are easily integrated into treasuries, however I'm not sure that this is the best way to display my jewellery.... frankly, I'm tearing my hair out about it! So hard to decide what to do! I've listed some items with white just to see how they look. What are your thoughts about it? Are there any other areas that need attention? All advice and criticism gratefully accepted.... :)

Well, the green jewelry definitely stands out against the white background so that does look nice. I don't think everything has to be photographed with a white background though. I for one don't like shooting with just a plain background. I'll do a few with it but mostly mine have different backgrounds. I would keep yours the way it is. I think your jewelry is pretty great.

I personally think that cohesiveness is more important than anything, but that may just be because I refuse to do the white background thing ;) I love what you have now, it's very clean and doesn't distract from the jewelry. I think that as long as your background choices enhance your work and are in line with the overall look and feel of your shop that you can't go wrong. Also, I've seen plenty of shops on here with all white backgrounds and really...ahem...'questionable' picture quality, and it does nothing for their items. I say keep up the great work! I especially love the bark background you use, the contrast between the rough natural material and your bright & modern jewelry is fantastic.

Thank you both so much for your input! You've helped me decide to stay with my grey background, and keep including some sticks and stones... too bad about looking 'good' for treasuries!! :) White is a) too hard to do and b) doesn't make my pieces look their best anyway... :)

I think your photos are quite lovely! The driftwood is not distracting and does not take away from the beauty of your jewelry. I would not change a thing about them.

There are more effective ways to get sales then to be featured in treasuries. I am featured in some, and it amounts to almost nothing, views or sales wise. Focus on the ways you can bring traffic to your shop and don't worry about who's on the front page. Most sellers are never featured on the front page and many do very well without it.

Best of luck to you.
