Checking in again

Hi all! I came on here when I first pened my shop in March and got great feedback on how to improve my page. However, I am still having some issues-

wondering if anyone can help give feedback on prices, (too high or too low)....etc..just the site overall.

I made some helpful changes last time but still need help figuring out SEO's that work, how can I make these better?

I have had only one sale since my shop opened with no public feedback. What can I do to bump up sales?
Any suggestions are welcome and helpful.

Thanks!
Amy

Re: Checking in again

Hey, Amy!

I just checked out your shop and I think you have a great product here! I think you're off to a great start and just need a little tweaking (which we all do, always!).

As for prices, I think they are reasonable. I would definitely not make them lower.

I really like the images where you have someone modeling the product. I think this really works to help customers visualize the piece in their life. If you can't get a model, I would use the same or similar color background for the other pictures. The different colors/textures in backgrounds sort of takes away from the cohesive look of your shop.

As for tags, try using the google keyword tool (you can find it with a simple search). It has really helped us choose tags that are searchable and relevant! It takes the guess-work out of SEO.

Best of luck to you! Just keep working on it and you'll be great!

Re: Checking in again

I agree with J&B that your photography could feel more cohesive. Try to take them on a white, clean, soft-lit background. Also, your images are composed such that I'm more aware that I'm looking at a photo rather than a product, if that makes sense. For example, the display image of your "Handmade Beige Petal Fascinator" is so zoomed in that it sort of looks like garden photography more than product photography. People need to see the whole product in that first image so that they can immediately understand what it is in one glance — save the lovely close-ups for the second and third images when the customer is already intrigued and wants a closer look.

Secondly, I think your titles could use work. You don't need to include "handmade" in the title: this is Etsy, that's the assumption (even with the reseller problems). By stating the obvious you're wasting very valuable real estate that could be used to direct buyers to your products. For example, your "Handmade Hair Comb" says nothing about what it looks like or is made or. You need to mention its delicate floral shape, its ivory color, its satin finish: something like "white flower hair comb in satin." Echo the keywords you have in your tags, and you'll appear much higher in search results.

Re: Checking in again

Thanks Elena! That helps.

In the process of making changes now. Maybe you can take another look later this week with other great suggestions? ;)

Re: Checking in again

I think you have a nice product. But, for a lot of them, I couldn't tell what the product was by looking at the picture. I would suggest zooming out a bit - and as Julia suggested, I think the pics that feature a model would do much better as the main image.

For example, this product:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/155636595/wedding-fascinator-crown-woodland-floral

I can't tell what it is by looking at the picture. The 2nd or 4th pic would do much better as a main image, in my opinion.

Also, definitely add many many more tags. You should use up all the spaces for tags. And be sure to use multi-word tags as well (whatever people would search for). Just looking at this one product I just linked to, it doesn't seem to have any tags.

Also, instead of saying this:
"The crown in the image is for reference only and not for sale. A new one will be made and sent at the time of purchase."

...you can just say the product is made-to-order.

Re: Checking in again

Seems easy enough to repair. Thanks for all of the great advice as I am still learning how this all should be done. Of course it is only getting harder to make changes as I add pieces. :)
Thanks again, much appreciated!
