How to get to the first page of the search

We sell lots of products for example one of the ones that we sell are garters and I notice that when I search for garters ours never come up on the first page - do we need to advertise to get to the at first page? I notice that some shops ALWAYS have their shops first - how does this work on etsy?

I have no idea how to, but I think the front page might be treasuries that other people have made. We should all make lots of treasuries and then find out if ours gets chosen one day.
