what type of cutting power tool to 'slice' deer antler?

would a dremel tool work? in a drill press w/ dremel at angle? or should i use some type of power saw and slide the antler through the blade?
how about drilling holes in the slices?
i'd like to make some antler 'buttons'

Re: what type of cutting power tool to 'slice' deer antler?

My husband used a hack saw with a very fine blade to cut some for me when I had the great idea of hollowing out a hole in a slice of antler and melting glass in it for a unique pendant. Never got around to making them though. I would just use a regular drill bit for the holes.

Would the antler behave like plastic?
I've had some problems cutting thick plastic with a dremel cut-off wheel..the plastic started to melt and clog the wheel. I think I needed to go slower, so the next time I'm going to try a hacksaw w/a miter box.
