looking for fibers

I'm wondering if any tropically-located Etsians out there would want to work with me to experiment with papermaking fibers. I'm looking for someone who lives near or has access to discarded fibers such as:

coconut husk
palm leaves
pineapple leaves (green spikey top part)
banana leaves
pampas grass

I would need them in at least 2lb dry weight batches.

I'd be happy to reimburse postage and send back a few sheets of the finished product if desired to compensate for the collection of the fibers.

Re: looking for fibers

I think you need to put some thought to overcome some importing regulations of plant matter.
Check on that before having anything sent to you in the US.
See what is possible and what is restricted.

Re: looking for fibers

All of those fibers can be found in the U.S. in Hawaii or Florida, so there iwll be no problem with importing.

Re: looking for fibers

Check on restrictions on moving plant matter from state to state as there are some out there.
In my state of Pennsylvania there are even restrictions on moving natural, untreated wood from county to county. These are to protect from various bug infestations.
Good luck though with your idea as i have seen papers made with banana leaves that were interesting.
