What stone is this?

Can anyone tell me what stone this is? I initially thought it was peace jade, but the green color isn't quite right. It has a similar green and white pattern as peace jade though.

Re: What stone is this?

Peace Jade is actually a mixture of green serpentine, fuchsia stichtite and white quartz.

I'd say your beads are the same, less the stichtite. Very pretty, though, and a great shape!

Looks like serpentine to me.

Re: What stone is this?

I would agree, serpentine, which often can have qualities like jade. In fact when its cut I have to change out the oil in my saw pan, because jade and serpentine foam up. The foam ruins the oil base in my saw blade pan.

Re: What stone is this?

I think "peace jade" is another of those made up names to make common, dyed or man made stones seem more exotic - "peace jade" sounds better than serpentine.

Peace Jade is such a pretty name but there is no jade whatsoever in it!

Re: What stone is this?

Oh, I would agree with you both, rositia and khmetalwork. One of my biggest peeves is when etsy shop seller's list a stone that they have miss-labeled or used a marketing name.

Even more frustrating labeling man-made stones and allowing your customer to believe its natural......or actual stone. Especially those who do not care to indicate that the stone in their listing is dyed.

Sorry for the rant.
