What is this called??

I am calling on all you seamstresses and tailors out there to help me. I got a raincoat from a thrift store and it has the cutest embellishment placed in the small of the back. Two crossed tabs of fabric joined by a button, what do you call this? I've included a link to a picture of it. I greatly appreciate your help!

Re: What is this called??

It looks like a 'belt tab' or a 'simulated belt'. I used both terms when I was doing dressmaking.

That's what I was thinking too Crochetgal. The pattern that I have just refers to it as the "tab" but I know I have seen it as the "simulated belt" or faux belt before.

Official name in tailoring is a 'martingale', also known as a half-belt.

Re: What is this called??

Well I learned something new today. I had no idea there was a name for this besides embellishment.

Thanks for your help everybody! Its easy to look up a word and find a picture, but its much more difficult the other way around.
