Thoughts on PMC kilns?

I would like to get a kiln for PMC.

Does anyone have one? If so, are you happy with it?

Re: Thoughts on PMC kilns?

i have two. A really old paragon kiln that I use as a back up for when I get really busy, and my main kiln is a Paragon SC3. I love it- it really can't be stated enough how much I use it and love it. If you are interested in base metal clays or sterling clay, a kiln is really the way to go.
As far as negatives- they only down side to base metal clay firings in that it oxidizes the steel pan and that flakes off. But they use so little space, not a lot of power, are very versatile (I also enamel in mine).

Thanks for the reply Willa. I use silver clay and have been using a speed cone for years but I know it would so much easier to use a kiln.

Can't wait to get one!

Re: Thoughts on PMC kilns?

thanks!

I originally did silver only, but the kiln allowed me to do bigger pieces and fire a ton at once with silver. I like that you don't have to worry about temp either, the programs are a ton of help for certain clays. It just made everything easier, more streamlined.
