Screen Printers...

Screen printers:

Is this how you do it?

If it is I am very impressed! What a cool process! I like looking up how-to videos/instructables for crafty and artisan endeavors and ran across this. I'm surprised I haven't looked it up before.. Any tips you've got?

Re: Screen Printers...

I've screen printed in the past and I never found it as easy as it looks! It takes practice, space and patience. The video shows the basic method and is how I would recommend going about it.

I would also recommend a starter kit from Dick Blick or Dharma Trading.

Just a warning...ProvoCraft makes a product called the Yudu, which is basically an all in one screen printing "machine". I have owned it and sold it as it NEVER produced good, consistent results. It may have just been me getting fed up and not practicing, but I found it to be a total waste of money.

I did a little blog post about sourcing screen printing supplies and the Yudu if you're interested: http://anothercraftyday.blogspot.com/2011/02/yudu-truth-provo-craft-did-not-invent.html

Hope you find it helpful and happy printing!

Re: Screen Printers...

Yes. In very basic terms that's how I do it. I use slightly different processes. For example I like water based ink. The ink I use is non-toxic, solvent free, lead free. So it makes my curing of the ink process different.

I have tried the Yudu, but I have heard the items that come with kit aren't great and are over priced. But the after market items can be really good. So I hear.

Another good place to get start up kits is http://www.silkscreeningsupplies.com/product/HOBBYKIT

Re: Screen Printers...

@Meghan: Very informative post on YUDU. Was thinking of getting one. Guess I'll try the old method.
