Hi there, I recently got a new batch of 26 gauge fine silver in and the flame is turning a bright intense red when i torch my headpins. Does anyone know what this means? Thanks Melanie
I get a red halo around the blue cone of my flame when I am soldering sterling silver with a tiny butane torch...so I'm thinking this might be "normal."
I have been torch fine silver for quite a while and this is the first time i have come across this. The bush of the flame even is red. Usually the flame stays yellow.
same torch on the 22 gauge on all the other wire i have does not produce this result. I am a bit baffled. I am wondering if what i got wasn't fine silver although my supplier has always been very dependable in the past.
I am wondering if there is a lubricant that is used in rolling the wire that contains Lithium. From what i have found on the net that's what the crimson flame means. Any other help would be much appreciated
