Painting...just starting

I am just starting out trying to paint. I found it is great therapy! My question is, is what is the best paint to add texture? I don't use paint brushes as much as I use my bare hands. I try to "pinch" the paint to texturize it but it collapses.

I hope this makes sense...

Have a look at some acrylic mediums, if you're using acrylic. There are heavy pastes and gels that you might like! You could definitely shape and mold them with your fingers. :)

I have been reading about liquitex heavy medium. Is that a good type?

I tried an extra heavy gel (matte) by golden and it worked perfectly! Thanks so much tina for your help!
