Looking for glossy paper that is thin, not photo paper...

I am hoping someone out there knows what I am talking about. I would love to find a glossy paper that will work in an inkjet printer, that is thin like regular old printer paper. I do not want the thickness of photo paper, because I need it to be flexible. I have this vague memory of using a glossy type paper back in the day to do finger painting but have no idea what it was called. Any ideas?

papers get discontiued all the time so if you find the 'one' stock up on it. go to a copy center like fed ex kinkos or staples and have them show you paper samples, then ask what the paper is.
there did usesd to be a shiney reg printer paper weight, folks like it for image transfer technique
good luck
post back here what you find please, i've not searched for 2 yrs so i know there are different ones out there now

Thanks Golden, I can use any insight anyone has. All my net searches come up with is photo paper, which is too thick like card stock. Most commercial posters are printed on thinish, glossy paper. I have no idea what to call it...

Kind of like shiny copy paper? I would agree with goldenwatercreations and go to a print shop and ask for samples.

You could also get a roll of finger paint paper and use that. You would do a ton of cutting, tho. It also comes in packages that are large sheets. I work in a Nursery School and we use tons of this paper. Good luck in your search!

I did a google search for "glossy brochure inkjet paper" and found several kinds of 8 1/2 x 11 papers.

Is this what you mean?

I actually have some of that finger paint paper! I don't know how it takes to inkjet but it is cheap enough to give it a try. I have a 9 x 12 pad of 30 sheets and it is made by PRO ART. I think I picked it up at AC Moore for $1.00!

Awesome! Thanks so much everybody- you have given me several good places to start. I did see listings for "glossy brochure inkjet paper" but that seems to be a fairly thick cardstock like weight. I am going to pick up some watercolor paper tomorrow and try that first... I live far away from any cities, so I can't just pop over to the printers lol. There are none around here. I think I can find the shiny WC paper, but I know if not I can easily get that online. I'll let you know what I find!

OK I found many kinds of this paper when I searched for "magazine type paper" and "glossy copier paper". Thank you everyone for helping to jump start my brain into working again!Seems this stuff is everywhere for laser printers, just not for inkjets. I did find many almost things to consider and try as money allows.

Re: Looking for glossy paper that is thin, not photo paper...

I did try Redriver, but not the next 2 suggested- will have to look again. I found something so close I will settle for now (on Ebay!), but I was sad to see that Epson, the makers of this product, has discontinued it and made this item into a thicker cardstock-weight paper. phooey! But, I have 20 sheets to play with for now. It is called Epson photo quality paper, and the old style which is I believe a #27 weight. Now they have doubled the thickness, so if this works for my project I need to run out and buy up more. This one is only glossy on one side and almost as thin as printer paper. I am using it to decoupage art onto bracelet cuffs so I can coat them with resin, and the usual transfer methods did not look good enough. Thanks everyone!
