Re: Lapidary and gemstone chat

Got some flack from a steelers fan today. Said green bay wussed out on those last two plays to run out the clock.
I told him after getting the sh*t kicked out of me for a whole season and I was looking at a win, I would take the knee a couple times to keep those big Orcs from smashing me down too.

Re: Lapidary and gemstone chat

Crafty Gal, if its genuine gemological and identification and physical properties information you are seeking, keep in mind that the esoterical crystal healing books have little practical information useful to jewelers and are best steered away from.
Regardless of beliefs, these manuals are often rife with inaccuracies and rely on abundant legends and lore with no connection to the actual properties of the gemstone. They are typically written by someone with no gemological background.
Not that they arent a good read for another point of view, or entertainment, but for gem and mineral knowledge they are virtually useless.
IMO, stick with publications written in a more practical vein.

Re: Lapidary and gemstone chat

well the gem show season is off and hopping in the northwest.
Got to a little club show on the coast yesterday. Pretty nice. Got a few pieces. A couple slabs of Stefoinite, a couple of bloody basin plume and a nice willow creek that my wife discovered. Plus a couple of pieces of Dino bone too. I need to slab those to see-- treasure or trash.
Biggest cool discovery was a trancas geode at this geode cutting booth that was chock full of the rarer type with the quartz wormy shaped distorted crystals. I still wonder if it was a display only piece they had up by mistake
Rare, Fluorescent, beautiful, cheap, both halves, ........ MINE! lol.

Prineville is next weekend, followed by Madras the week after that.
The year just keeps getting better and better.
