Is there any such SOLDER ANIMAL as this?

I was asked by a potential customer if, instead of silver content solder for microscope slide necklaces, if there could be a gold colored solder.

Do you know of any gold colored solder for this use?

Thanks in advance.

I've never seen such an animal :)

You could try painting the edges with a gold sharpie paint pen.

I tried that and I tried alcohol inks. Blah! I don't think there is such an animal and may think of a different idea for this person....

Thanks for answering!

Re: Is there any such SOLDER ANIMAL as this?

There are silver gold solders and gold solders available at Rio Grande. The silver gold is a gold colored silver solder. I have used the tiny chips in the past, and they do a pretty good job for color match. Here is a link to the sheet, which you can buy in small pieces and not have to pay so much:

There is also 8k - 14K gold solder wire or paste available. I suppose what you buy depends on how much you will be needing for future use.

Good luck!

The microscope slides use fat wire soft solder and a soldering iron. I think the flame needed to melt the "real" gold solder would melt the soft solder off the piece.
I think.

Gold solder is available but VERY expensive. Like $14 an inch if you buy 14K. Yikes. I bought some to solder gold fill, but I think I need to find a cheaper version.

And yes, you can't use it with a soldering iron-- you need 1500 degrees to melt it, so I guess that won't work for you anyway.
