How to make Netting Lace (which is not knitting)

Hey guys, I'm trying to spread the love of how to make fishnets--my Great Grandma left me this really fun to-make craft and I want other people to try it. It's a bit harder than knitting, but just as addictive. Sad thing is, our old family craft of netting is going extinct--so for those that are curious to try a reaaaaally old craft (and I figure most Etsians aren't scared to try it): I recently did an illustrated tutorial on how to do basic fish-netting lace.

I thought you were going to show how to make regular fish nets, but it turns out that you are showing a round doily. Do you really call that fish net?

and trim, she didnt say stockings :/ but can easily see how with skill that technique could be used to make some rather lovely fishnet stockings.

I was thinking about the ancient skill fishermen use to make nets to fish fish in the ocean!!!!!
But fishnet stockings would be way sexier!

When I read the op, I immediately thought "fishnet stockings". I guess it's because I actually used to wear them. I never used a fishnet.

I would like to thank you for this post. I am a Victorian fanatic and recently stumbled across some netting patterns. It was difficult events to learn what this craft was as when you put netting into a Google search you come out simply with various forms of nets,but with persistence I found it and could not wait to learn. Then the trouble was finding a source of education I could afford. I hate seeing arts like this die out and applaude your efforts to keep this one alive.
