How to attach metal onto material?

I'm wanting to attach some metal objects onto material such as satin. I need to know if I should glue them and if so with what are is there another way to attach the objects?

Can you drill small holes in the metal pieces and sew them to the satin?

I'm wondering what it is that I'm wanting to do is make satin chokers and I want to embellish them with metal more or less the filigree types of metals the metal objects would have the back side of them flat and I don't know what is the best way to attach the metal objects to the satin chokers.

if the items are filigree just stitch through some of the openings...

That's what I thought about was stitching through them and if they are solid pieces that's something else I wondering about how to attach them.

I would rather wear something that had been sewn, rather then glued.

Yea I know some of them can be sewn on and some of the pieces are solid pieces so those are the ones I'm trying to figure out how to attach them.

debra did you see the prior suggestions to drill through and sew on or do a rivet attachment

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it might be an approach. There are findings that attach rhinestones to cloth, and they could work in place of rivets. Here's an example. Also look for "sew on" rhinestone settings.

Use fabric glue. It works wonderfully. You can get Becon Fabri Tac which I use all the time, at Walmart.
