Hi! I am trying to figure out how to remove the backing on a covered button, and I am coming up short. The fabric is misaligned and I really don't want to waste this button just because the fabric wasn't put on correctly. Any ideas?
I take it you mean to try to pry the back out? If so, have you tried one of those teeny tiny screwdrivers that come in the fix-it packs for glasses? The packs also come with a couple of little screws. I think you can get them at the drug store.
I have never had any luck removing the back unless it wasn't in correctly or tightly. I too just seem to destroy them. I find it isn't worth my time or effort to even try. The only way I would is if the covering was one of a kind and I had no choice but to salvage it.
I agree with BigMama, just not possible and be able to reuse the bits. Necessary though if you need to save the fabric. As may of them are snap lock designed even when taken apart with care they will not hold firmly when reused.
