HP vs Mac (Appl) Computer - which would you choose...

My main computer is dead. We are on dial-up. Geek Squad guy says Apple is impervious to virus and is best for art/photo applications. All else being equal, which would you choose?

It's a no-brainer to me. I switched to a Mac & would not want to go back, ever.

Agreed. No brainer. Macs cannot be beat. Worth every penny. I have an iMac desktop which is beautiful, and a very old Mac powerbook hand-me-down laptop. I keep expecting my laptop to die because I've had it at least 5 years and my professional designer daughter used it for years before that. What a workhorse.

PS. I do all my Etsy photos in iphoto without any other photo editing program and I think they're pretty good.

Mac hands down. But you really don't even have to choose. On my iMac, I just hit restart, hold down the "option" button & I can choose to open the computer using Mac or Windows. So you actually have both, if you have a Mac.

I love having a mac :) I have an imac and a macbook.

I don't believe it is totally impervious to viruses - so I do have an anti virus installed just in case.

But no matter what you have, make sure you back up all your work!

There is nothing a Mac can do that can't also be done by a PC, plus it is an open platform, you pay less and have a much bigger choice of software.

The choice between the two depends on whether you have to work collaboratively with others. If you do then go for the platform they use. Otherwise save your money...
