Good Length For Necklaces?

Hi everyone I'm new to your team, and fairly new to Etsy, and I'm in a dilemma over what is a good length to make my necklaces. Perhaps all of you have some suggestions for me. I sure would appreciate it , as I have so many pieces I have materials to start making but unsure about the lengths. So if you would be so kind to take a look at my hand crafted jewelry in my shop and let me know, I would really appreciate it!! Thanks

I think 18 inches is a good length.

It might depend on the design of your necklaces. But if you do a google search on "necklace lengths" you should get a good idea of what you need.

An 18 inches necklace on someone with a thick neck is almost a choker...and on a thin person a little longer pendant and on an average person it just rests nicely on the chest.

I've been using extension chains lately. My neclaces start at 16 or 18 inches and then add a 2to4 inch extension - or more if requested. Usually finish off the extension with a bead or pearl used in the necklace.

I offer 16,18 and 22 inch with my sterling silver chains; find the 18 inch is the most requested.

For my necklaces I've been using 50cm and 80cm (for chunkier statement pendants) - 19 inches and 31 inches roughly converted.

I'm thinking maybe 18 inch with extension chains for my new designs will be the way to go!

I think it's great to have variety, as BigMama says the same length will fall different places on different sizes of people. 18" is standard length.

Extention chains are great! I also make my own 16" chain, and then add a larger ring at that point, and then add two more inches of chain for an 18" chain.

or, use a pre-made 16 or 18 and add a 2' or 4' just incase that can be removed, and then all your bases are covered.
