Bonding String to Leather

Hello,

I am trying to sew a metal Concho onto a leather cuff that i have made. Problem I am running into is what to do with the knotted string on the back of the cuff to keep it from coming undone or fraying. I also would like the string/knot to lay flat up against the leather as flat as possible.

I have tried super glue, hot glue gun and a leather adhesive from Tandy leather factory. Nothing seems to be keeping the knot down flat/seamless against the leather.

I was wondering if a soldering iron would do the trick possibly if I used wax thread?

Anyone every encounter this problem or does anyone currently sew metal to leather and have a technique they could offer?

Thank you!

Re: Bonding String to Leather

Could you carve a small recess in the leather at the spot where the knot will lay - it would then nestle closer to the cuff and not lay entirely on the surface. For an adhesive, check out G-S Hypo Cement. I use that to check fraying and glue finding on the ends of silk cord. Unlike super glue which gets hard and is scratchy, the cement stays more flexible.
