Anyone use Wubbers???

I am thinking about purchasing a set of Wubbers pliers. I have done an awful huge amount of research as to the quality of Wubbers. Of course, Wubbers themselves and sellers of Wubbers say that they are great...right? Well, I want to know from actual users:

Any problems at all with them?

If you had any problems, did you try to return them to the buyer? What was their response?

If the pliers broke in some way, can you revceive a free replacement?

In other words, do you know if Wubbers has a warranty/guarantee?? I have not been able to get an answer out of everyone I have phoned.

How long have you been using them?

How do you cpompare them to Lindstrom tools, as far as how they work?

Are Wubbers pliers ERGONOMIC? I see that some sellers say that they are and some say nothing.

Where can I buy Wubbers at a VERY low price?

Thanks, everyone!

Re: Anyone use Wubbers???

I haven't used them. I have ergonomic pliers from BeadSmith, Otto Frei and Swanstrom. I don't recall any of them having any warranty.

I know people who rave about Lindstrom but they don't feel right in my hand.

I have the bail-making set and use them for making ear wires. I like mine - super smooth and non-marring. Haven't needed to replace them. I bought them directly from the Wubbers lady at the Bead Fest Arlington show last year. I would bet you can get fake ones cheap but not sure about discounts for the real ones.

Re: Anyone use Wubbers???

I have two pairs of Wubbers and love them! I recommend getting the smaller size and not the classic size if you have small hands like me. They're so comfortable and don't mar the wire. I definitely recommend them!

Re: Anyone use Wubbers???

Thanks for your responses. I have called around to different stores and everyone says they love Wubbers even more than Lindstroms. A couple of jewelry making teachers also said the same, one of which said that the Lindstroms tools rust and Wubbers don't. So, I am going to buy a set of the larger Wubbers, the Classic ones so that my hands won't cramp up. I have small hands but long fingers.

A couple of stores I spoke with said that they stand behind the Wubbers they sell, so, if there is a problem with them within reason (not being abused, not 10 years down the road, etc.) that they would replace them. So, I strongly suggest that you talk on the phone to a person yourself at the store to be sure that they would stand behind them.

Thanks again...

Re: Anyone use Wubbers???

Well, I am quite disappointed! I saved my $$ to buy the full line of WUBBERS pliers...and, they do not work! They have absoultely no tension in them at all. It is as though the 'spring' metal things don't even have a place there. The noses just clack together!

I ordered 5 pliers from one supplier and the other 5 pliers from another supplier. BOTH suppliers said that they have lately been having the same complaints from buyers of WUBBERS.

I emailed WUBBERS directly to notify them of the problem if they don't know yet. I am thinking that if they already knew they wouldn't have let all those defective pliers pass their (or the manufacturer's) doors! So, if they didn't know, now they do. If they already knew, then...well, that's bad business!

Of course, I can return all the pliers, but, now I have to start over in order to buy a new line.

I am sooooo....pissed! (sorry)

Aimee

PS: Anyone know of a comparable line that doesn't cost more than $25 per plier? They would have to be Ergonomic and not mar fine metals...

You might want to try the Otto Frei ergomonic pliers. They are approximately $22 each before shipping. www.ottofrei.com .
