why did I not get star seller ?

Hi I have not been awarded star seller despite getting 97% message response rate, 4.9 average reviews score, and 96% on time tracking and shipping. All three category's have a green tick on the 1st of November but I have only been awarded 2 badges and not star seller why?

Since you don't have the message badge, looks like that's your problem. You can download the file to see what they are saying you missed.

What is showed yesterday vs today might of changed, i would have a look this evening, ours just dropped on and looking at our reviews yesterday, we were at 600 today were at 296 so i think they change to the start of the month each time

They may be high enough on the November list but if they weren't high enough on the OCTOBER list you don't get a star for November. The current star shown for November cover Aug. Sept. , Oct. Last months star was based on July Aug Sept. If you didn't get a star at the end Oct. due to something in Aug. and those stats dropped off it may show you are on track on your November stat page even though nothing else happened. You need to keep the stats on the November stat page above the cutoff for the whole month to get a star next month. Nutshell..this months star based on last 3 months data. November data on your dashboard is based on last 2 months and this month to be awarded Dec. 1st.

Edited because I was confusing even myself..the current stats shown on your dashboard are about your qualifying for NEXT month's star.

@NikkisAtticGifts: Remember that the stats you now see are for the December star (September, October and November). The "Last Review Period" shows the stats for the November Star (August, September and October). Check the applicable CSV file to see what Etsy thinks is wrong.

It's a new review period. Look at last review period for the stats to make today's badge.

Thank you everyone for your replies , I now understand however after speaking with Esty Support they suggested the best thing to do would be to set up an auto reply for messages to ensure all messages got a reply in 24hrs. I ask how this offered "the very best in customer service" by fobbing customers off with a generic "thanks for your message we will get right back to you " and then never do I would have got star Seller rather than the 200 messages we replied to with a genuine response but missed the 24hr cut off for 6 messages and therefore offered a less good service than someone with an auto response. They said yes , so I went on to ask if I could set up an auto response with just a single full stop and again Etsy support said yes . And so I asked how does that offer the "very Best in customer service" and they replied with we dont make the rules but thats how it works !!

So if I reply with just a full stop to every message this month I will get star seller next month including a badge to say we always respond to all messages within 24hrs even though we would have responded to nothing . This Star seller System is broken in my opinion and misleading to customers if it can be manipulated in this way?

I mean, that is what Etsy does themselves, so not sure why you think they wouldn't think that's ok?

And ya, the whole entire program is flawed. That's a big reason why many of us here will never understand why so many of you care so much about it.

I agree with you about the Auto Reply.  I have used it a few times, but it was only after I had to leave the house due to medical emergencies. I wasn't able to answer any potential incoming Messages, and wasn't certain when I'd be back home. So I quickly Deactivated my listings and set up an Auto Reply. 
But personally I wouldn't use it for any other reason than that.  I don't feel I should use it just "any old time".  Although I do know Etsy recommends it.

I just Think its misleading to suggest that it is better to reply to an enquiry for a bespoke personalised item with just a full stop auto reply than replying after 24hrs . I personally would be happier with a proper reply 3 days later than a fob off in seconds. 

The reason I care about the star seller badge is that without it there is a perception that we are offering a "less Good Service" than people with the badge even if there service is not as good as they have played the system . I know that in the end our products and reviews will show people how good we are however I do feel rewarding sellers for "playing the system " is unfair and I am sure STAR SELLER is going to be a footstep towards other things such as boosts in the listings, lower fees, better add rates etc. 

I have had friends say to me they only buy from sellers with the "purple Star" as it shows they are not fake sellers who are scamming people and I explained thats not what it means at all but some people see it the same as someone with a 100% feedback score on ebay and with out the purple star you are like a seller with an 80% feedback so "be wary .
