vintage Christian Dior listing deactivated

My first deactivation really surprised me.  I sell vintage jewelry and listed a great Christian Dior necklace and it almost immediately got deactivated.  I see vintage CD jewelry all over etsy.  I have several pieces that I'd like to list, but how?

Today I wanted to list pendant that I have made and Etsy deactivated it at once with message that it violates it's policies. I don't understand why and tried to contact them, but I got the standard answer, from a robot probably, to check their policies and bunch of other crap in answer that doesn't help me at all to understand what I did wrong. And they charged me fee for listing.

Did you use the term "amber"?

It seems that the bots are looking for trigger words with no consideration for context. The classic example that may or may not apply to you, if you say an item is ivory colored the listing may get flagged because ivory is not allowed to be sold on Etsy. Since Etsy is now also factoring descriptions in search, they along with titles, tags, and materials (and possibly even alt tags if you are using them) are all probably being checked. And the bots are also "reading" images. They are also probably checking for trademark infringement. In theory a human will review the deactivations.

Every eMail from Etsy support should have a link something like "I Still Need Help". Click on that link in each reply from Etsy (or actually reply stating that you still need help) to keep the report alive. You may have to do this innumerable times, before anything is done but do not give up. DO NOT open a new issue or contact Etsy multiple times about the same issue (doing so closes the one you already opened and puts the new one on the bottom of the pile).

Seriously I would not want to waste my time and risk my shop on Etsy's rampant bots removing legit items. I'd list them elsewhere. If Etsy doesn't want the money why fight it? I'd never list another amber or designer vintage item here. It is too hard to get the error removal corrected and no assurance it is still not somehow held against your account.

List your vintage designer items on another platform that can actually handle the task -  for example, theRealReal specializes in designer clothing and accessories.

There are thousands of listings that are have the word amber in the titles and descriptions. Many have the small amber beads as well, which are not supposed to be sold. Tons of them! How are they getting away with this, and we who use the word amber to describe a color get deactivated?! So ridiculous!

Try just putting the words in your tags instead of listing description.  It's how some shop get around it.

@designbayou Title and tags are the first places that get searched for keywords. Description comes second place.

I had CD perfume bottles and something else CD (for the life of me I can't remember what the heck it was) deactivated last year but both were reactivated. Last month, they deactivated an I Love Lucy Barbie (presumably because I used the word "Cuban" - she was wearing a costume to a party for Ricky) and that was finally reactivated last week. Schroeder from Peanuts was 2wks ago and that was reactivated 2 days later. 

Super frustrating for sure... Contacting them will only get you a canned response so don't bother plus they won't allow you to challenge anyway. Chances are good it'll go back up eventually. I stopped buying designer anything - those brands seem to be targeted the most.

I had a vintage Christian Dior Dress Pattern and it was removed also a few months back and then Etsy reactivated it after about 1 week...sold in a few days afterwards...I suppose I should thank Etsy for taking it down LOL.

Just had a Michael Kors Vogue Sewing Pattern deactivated, and reactivated about a week and a half later... they really need to get their act together!

Just list them and be prepared to wait while they verify the listings. Annoying I know, but that seems to be all you can do. Unless you want to sell it elsewhere.

At least Etsy seems to be checking their de-activations now. It seemed at the beginning they just de-activated and waited for the prompt from seller.

So it takes 10 days for the listing to actually activate...

When they started deactivating vintage designer listings awhile ago they were putting the accounts in Reserve too.  Typical etsy over reaction and the counterfeit designer handmade goes on no problem.

I'm totally flummoxed legitimate vintage items can be pulled, but very little happens to resellers or those who produce fake copies of designer items.

I sent a customer service request and my item was relisted by etsy.  Thank goodness, I have several more vintage CD to sell.

I have two 1960s Dior hats I'd love to list, but I'm not risking it. 

I'm sure someone, at some point, might review them and allow the listing to be reactivated, but . . . it's just not worth the hassle.
