trying to run a sale - can't get listings to come up using key words

I'm trying to run a sale and using key words to bring up certain listings I want to put on sale, but the listings won't come up. I'm using the exact title of the item when trying to search, but the list that pops up doesn't include any of the items I am wanting to put on sale. 

What am I doing wrong?

I had a problem with a few listings last week when I renewed my clearance sale. Trying fewer words worked, but some words were not recognized. For example, a listing with the words "paua abalone shell" in the title only showed up in a search for "paua", not either of the other words. So try fewer words, perhaps? 

Also, an item about to expire usually won't show up; I generally have to add the whole section it is in, then delete the ones I do not need.

Thanks, I tried as broad as "gold" hoping a bunch of gold necklaces would come up, and nothing comes up.
