i have an email from a customer who placed an order but has received no info. There are no orders on my end. He sent a link to his order- i clicked the link, it takes me to my etsy product he ordered, but then theres a pop up from support chat asking me to verify myself- it says once i verify, i can complete the order.
This is my first order, so im wondering if i did miss a step in starting my etsy page, and this verification is a legit need. i'm also wondering what kind of scam this is if i click it
Definite scam!

This is a scam! You never need to "verify" to accept an order.
When you get a real order, you will see it on your dashboard under "Orders"
If or when etsy ever does need to verify your ID or financial info, there will be a notice ON YOUR DASHBOARD.
Never click on links, or pop up chats, etc.
If a customer has a problem with an "order" then they need to contact etsy themselves.

If you receive an actual order, you will see it in your "Orders and Shipping" section and you will receive an email from Etsy notifying you that you have a sale, and there will be a notification in your dashboard as well.
@ThreebeesBBB when you clicked on the link were you then asked to log in to the website? I'm just curious if the website was the genuine Etsy website or a fake site. If it was fake and you logged in then they will now also have your log in credentials - so you would need to change your password asap.
If you gave them any financial details then contact your bank/card provider immediately.
