It was probably a scam order that was deleted once it was detected as a scam before you were able to notice. Buyers do see your email on the order.
Was the email you received a notification sent by Etsy letting you know you had a sale? Or was it an email from someone 'claiming' they just purchased from you and said they were having a problem and wanted you to click a link? Did they ask for any personal or banking information?
Came on here to see if this is a legit email thing because I got two emails from people asking about processing times/when they should receive tracking info, but when I got to my shop, there's no orders waiting. Neither email had any suspicious links or anything. It was two accounts personal emails asking for information about their order (all standard things). I also tried to message my shop using a different account and that didn't go through either.
Sounds like the latest scam. They've been placing orders which are later failing/cancelled by the transaction processor. It's possible you had an order over night but it disappeared by the morning. This is however just enough time for the 'Buyer' to receive the notification email that contains your email address.
Be careful. Never click on links in messages or direct emails. You may receive messages via Etsy too. These could also be from scammers.
okay thank you no it was sent directly to my email with a link to my shop but there no actual order

If you receive an actual order, you will see it in your "Orders and Shipping" section and you will receive an email from Etsy notifying you that you have a sale, and there will be a notification in your dashboard as well.
is there a way to hide the email from scammers because there was zero orders and this scammer still got my email not sure how
If a scammer actually places an order which subsequently is picked up by Etsy as invalid, Etsy cancels the order so you are not scammed. However, if they don't catch it right away, the scammer may have time to grab your email address before the order disappears. Stay aware and check orders before responding to direct emails. If there is no order showing in your shop, it is most likely a scam attempt. The scammers target new sellers especially, relying on the fact that they may not know how the order process works yet. If the shop shows no sales, you can safely dismiss such attempts as scams, just remember never to give out any personal or financial information on emails.
